For reference, this whole thing is probably just one big reference to how there's Kukulkan-the-god and Kukulkan-the-priest (and both being Quetz, hence why Jaguar Man calls her Kuku in Babylonia) and also how Cē Ācatl Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl was the ruler of the Toltecs for a bit in the 10th century. So you have Quetz-the-god ruling on Earth as two separate people in two separate times, and they solve this by saying "well, Quetz just possessed both of their bodies".

And then there's the whole IRL Ancient Astronaut conspiracy theory thing with some of the Mesoamerican gods that I'm not entirely clear on, and it dovetails nicely with how Quetz is also the name of a pterosaur and how the whole Yucatan asteroid collision that killed off the dinosaurs is in that general area. So then you get ancient alien god-germs that infect the local lifeforms.

It's a somewhat unusual take on it, but you can see the steps that lead to it.
