    I'd assume he has to burn prana for his NP so it's not like he can't use it at all.

    Maybe he is just to weak so using his NP on himself is not as cost efficient as using it on someone more powerful? I doubt Andersen using his NP on himself in CCC could match the likes of your servant boosted anyway.
