We were playing cards with Caster Cu and Billy when Jalter comes in the room.
Jalter says we need to go deal with a yet to be singularity (which doesn't show up on sensors, confusing Mashu and Da Vinci), and takes us to France. (Billy asks Geronimo to go instead of him)
We deal with vengeful ghosts, who turn out to be the innocent people that lived there before the Orleans singularity happened.
So basically, we're cleaning up by making sure the innocents who were killed stay peacefully dead, instead of haunting places and killing innocent mortals passing by (and losing their innocence).
Geronimo points out that while the Jalter who did this to them is already dead, and our Jalter is a separate person, we need to consider why Jalter is an Avenger now. Does Jalter really want to help with restoring human order? Or is she just using her position to have fun?
Jalter wants to know that herself, wondering if she will enjoy her revenge, and that's why she brought us here. As she expected, killing the ghosts of her victims was not fun at all.
Geronimo asks again, because she surely knows she will not be saved even if she helps the ghosts by killing them.
Jalter's reply to this was too good to tldr. (This reminded me a lot about her talk on avengers in Shinjuku.)
"What about being saved? I know I'll just keep on running, there is nothing at the end.
I'm fine with that. I'm that kind of being.
I'm not here to repent for my sins, to be saved.
I'm here to make sure you win your battles.
I won't forget that.
No matter what, I won't forget that."
So we keep on cleaning up, and we reach the castle, where we fight a pesky giant ghost.
Who turns out to be Charles VII.
Jalter discusses how she killed his people again, how she couldn't let any other heroes or anti-heroes do this instead of her.
They are all dead because the past her killed them. She won't justify what she did, or repent. She will not take punishment for it, or enjoy.
She will do this because this is her duty.
The king says they will all keep on hating and cursing her, but wonders how she won't do so.
Jalter then explains to us how the king opened a retrial for her- no, Jeanne D'Arc, 18 years after Jeanne's death.
How he made people testify about how Jeanne was a good person who fought for them.
She briefly wonders if Jeanne, unlike her, will be delighted to know her honor was restored after her death, but then again Jeanne didn't even care about how people thought of her in her life, so maybe not.
After all this cleaning up, Geronimo tells Jalter that she made sure the right conclusion happened, and while she could've let other people do the work instead, she didn't.
The reasoning and pride behind those actions prove how she is, indeed, a rightful servant.
TL;DR: Jalter proves she is a servant worthy of being a part of Chaldea, and tells us she's here to make sure we win.
