This might be pretty late but what were the effects of Rune of Death on Holmes?
It kills you, simple as that. But Holmes is a servant so it only damaged his spiritual core massively, which would also kill him if damage is too much. Normally there's no rune magic that can instant kill a heroic spirit like that, but primal runes of Odin are magic on the level of sorcery/true magic or w/e the term you want to call mahou.
Not to mention that losing an arm, cloak ripped, and having that perfecly combed hair ruined probably makes it easier to die from a twitch

Holmes should be fine as long as he has his 'pipe'.

I was surprised sure, but I wasn't too worried after seeing how though he was seriously injured, he never let go of his pipe. So I figured it wasn't as bad as it looked after all.
