Since Douman is apparently going to be an Alter Ego whenever we finally summon him according to those CMs from before Lostbelt started, I have a crazy theory: the person he's an Ego of is Abe no Seimei. He did initially claim to be Seimei in Shimousa. I'm betting it will be something like "Seimei's great rival was a split personality and not a separate person" or something.
Or maybe I'm reading way too into it.

That's the running theory. Even more, he might be the one who trolled Tamamo in the past. Reason is that when she described Seimei in Extra she said his appearance is weird for a Japanese guy and called him ikemon. ike is from ikemen and mon is probably from kemono or monster, basically a handsome monster. Well, Limbo's ghost form is called "the beautiful beast". Plus he really hates Koyanskaya and personally asked GodArjuna to eliminate her in LB4.

probably a complex where he is without rival and lonely so that he wished he had someone who could challenge him. It's a pretty common trope in Asian stories.
