Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.
Asian rulers were known to use Inquisition-style tortures for secular reasons (well, in their minds, religious as many emperors considered themselves sons of Heaven). Also, while other rulers may have killed a lot of people, this more systematic method https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_f...exterminations bears Chinese trademarks. Then again, it might also be because Asian people are more number-oriented than westerners.
Does that ever show up in subsequent SS story modes, though? In another instance of playable Amakusa story, he goes back to the whole "hell on Earth" thing again.
That's not limited to Asian rulers at all! European secular readers were far more fond of such things compared to religious leaders as well. Hell, in the medieval era and even during the Renaissance, you were generally tortured under a secular ruler's orders whereas the Pope would just generallg stick you under house arrest.
Just old stuff. People pointing at each other's culture for being barbaric and cruel without realizing theirs is the same.
Chinese generals were certainly assholes. Reading about people like Xiang Yu is kind of disturbing.
Come to think of it, although the "missionary" was pretty obviously shy Edmond, we never really found out why Tamamo was Tama the geisha and Kiyohime a Matsudaira princess.
There was some speculation about the hybrid dream/parallel world connection influencing things but stated in very uncertain terms only...
finally finished the chapter
i read like a goddamn snail
good story, not really a wow plot but chara background and characterization were so gooood
pretty awesome battles too, they felt more personal and unique compared to previous EoR chapters, particularly the very last fight. muh emotion.
also all those loredumps from fuuma, best boy
guda really has it bad with dreams and sleeping
definitely a solid chapter, probs slightly higher than shinjuku in my opinion, deff better than agartha, mostly thanks to not really have to wait like half a year for it

I'm still at chapter 5 due to mostly farming proofs. I read at a pace of pregnancy, so to speak.
Real savior goes through shit both in dream and reality.
Also fairly sure Shiroumasa got something akin to Territory (Workshop) Creation.
Something
Mfw i stanned Fuuma from the moment he was released and now everyone else is finally picking up the slack

Because trying to read this chapter well is like having a hammer being striked on my constantly burning head so I need to get all the contexts I can. I did learn more stuffs when reading it myself, tho. Still don't even know why and how the hell Makai Tensho Amakusa being the mastermind here, so I still have expectations to be met by reading.
