Personally, Holmes is pretty much on point with what I expected him to be in Fate. The VA also did a great job at voicing him, it's another reason I like him. If I had him I would probably put him in My Room from time to time just to hear his lines.

This reminds me that Camelot movie will show him. Too bad it's for a small part, but I hope it's worth it.

I learned about Cumberbatch from A Study in Pink, a manga adaption of the british TV series Sherlock which I also found out about later because apparently it had a sizable fanbase there. Not that I knew about that before checking it out of curiosity because of his weird face plastered on the cover. I eventually figured out it had to be based off of something because how uncanny some characters were, but especially how Sherlock looked and particular personality quirks that were too out there.

Holmes is actually very clear cut as a character, there isnt many liberties to take unless you want to make him ooc deliberately

that being said i really appreciate him being properly adapted by tm
I grew up with soviet tv adaptation of holmes books and later read the books themselves so my image of holmes is p much cemented at this point
the highest praise i can give tm is that TM!Holmes doesnt tickle "fanfic" senses
it pleases me immensely

i saw RDJ movies and BBC show relatively recently and they are fan interpretation at best
granted RDJ movies had a good reason for being more light-hearted derivative work and BBC had a bad case of being a trash fire (though first 2 seasons are entertaining on their own merit)

I pretty much agree with all of this, the TM interpretation of Holmes has been really great to read in the translations and it made Shinjuku fun as he interacted with Moriarty.

I'm rather amused that in my opinion, TM in Japan has done a better job at writing Holmes than the other recent western works, the BBC show and the RDJ movies. I also heartily approve of Mashu being a big fan and getting super excited during his explanations.

I'm still stinging from when Jeanne spooked me back during the Sherlock rate-up but hopefully he will eventually come. I would welcome a detective story event where TM re-enacts one of the Doyle books or something.
