Well, yeah. Alien Gods are not 100% Lovecraft Outer Gods, its just the closest analogy you can make to comprehend them. That is why Hokusai paintings and Crowley demons are also thrown in the mix.

Well, even Conan is terrified by some examples of sorcery. Its just that his natural reaction to fear is fighting. Also, none of the "heavy-hitters" does not appear in the series directly. And Hyboria is also doomed the same way mankind in Lovecraft'a work, their eventual fall is a foregone conclusions in both "settings".

I don't see any problem with using the Cthulhu mythos out of their context because using myths out of their context and giving them a new one inside the setting is what Fate is all about since Day 1. Because yeah, the Cthulhu mythos were created to serve as just that, a vaguely connected new mythology that anyone can use.

Whining about something that is the very core of the franchise seems like beating a dead horse at this point.

Oh, I just realized: Is this the first time they are calling an Outer God by their original name?
They used Sut-Typhon for Yog Sothoth and Evil God of the Abyss for Cthulhu, but BB is BBthotep. Do they mention him by name in the story?

I thought they were going to keep using different names to show how Lovecraft only dreamed about them and the things he wrote are not necessarily correct.

I like how Jeanne Alter has grown mentally though, even if her class is berserker. Heck, all the servants seems to be gently nudging for MC regardless of gender to hook up with Mashu for this event, so I'm enjoying it even if Mythos is involved.

He taught the team on the basics of doujin drawing, giving his room next to Akki since he know she will give advice and help they really need, and like you say: first buyer.

One of the best things I got out of this event is that CA Hassan Protection from Wind actually makes him immune to explosions. That makes the skill way more useful then I originally thought

Yeah, I originally thought it just let him no-sell wind magic, but if it can let him ride the shock waves from explosions that actually makes him much harder to pin down, even with AoE.

This event made me realized that Okki might actually be a better fox than Tamamo, despite certain parts not being as good.

To be fair, not once in the mythos did the humans have anything like Heroic Spirits backing them up. Also, didn't the Dunwich Horror get it's ass decisively kicked? It only succeeded in killing some police and helpless civilians. No different than your typical monster movie. The moment people who could fight back got involved it was done.

One of the things I love most about this event is it makes otaku-Blackbeard into best senpai without actually changing the fact that he's an otaku.

Yeah, Hassan's Wind Evasion is actually pretty good. PFA might not work on explosions, but WE has no such problems.

And while Charles Dexter Ward doesn't survive, the protagonist comes out of his ordeal seemingly fine AND released some ancient force of good that goes on to hunt Joseph Curwen's crazy cabal, so that one's bittersweet I guess.
