I can't find the exact quote now
but that's a reference to when you cast a rune in the air, it's more susceptible to resistance by circulating magical energy compared to when you inscribe it on the actual person.

Well, I haven't read the story yet, obviously, so everything from hereon is speculation, but maybe everything is going as he had foreseen before his death and Skadi was only meant to stave things off a while before the Chaldea crew actually arrived to achieve... ...something. (A proper conclusion to Ragnarok, maybe, so their story can have meaning? The catalyst for their world's rebirth?)

Did anyone else get a vague Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan-vibe from this Lostbelt (humans living behind walls at the mercy of giants, and ruled over by royalty who doesn't have full control over the giants)? I predict the remaining Lostbelts will give us 3-stars of the other rare classes (a 3-star Ruler, Foreigner, maybe even a Moon Cancer in that one Lostbelt that people are speculating will involve the Moon Cell).
