The whole 'love transcends forms' is nice & all but they're not as amusing/interesting to watch compared to the other existing/would-be couples.

I like Xiang Yu and Yu Ji despite the beauty and the beast getup. Then again, its pretty amusing since Xiang Yu we summoned is from pan human history and even he gets a little baffled at his current form at first.
I thought it was always amusing how FGO makes do with reusing the current assets available to them whenever they can, that's to say the enemy sprites and servant designs they've commissioned, and justify it in-game with workaround reasons. Which gives you the rollable asura zombie centaur but with his panhistory self's memories explained in the story so they still get the interaction they want in the end.

Thing is, to me, it cheapens her love for the real Xiang Yu. I can understand not wanting to see the Lostbelt version die, but loving him, who is fundamentally a different person from her Xiang feels shallow. It reminds me of the situation with Irisviel and CG Kiritsugu. Like, why the hell is this guy who only shares a name and origin with your beloved getting the same attention as your beloved, but it's even worse in Hinako and Xiang's case, because at least CG Kiritsugu looks like his Pan-Human self and his personality isn't too different. Lostbelt Xiang was basically Xiang in name only.
It's a little better now because it's Pan-Human Xiang you summon, but would it have killed Delightworks to give him his human form for his third ascension? Qin got a different sprite and move set (as did Tamamo), so why not Xiang? It would even give the players more reason to ascend him for the sake of his relationship with Hinako.

and no matter the looks of Xiang Yu, people will roll because he's voiced by No.1 voice actor in the industry.
Its not that I don't like it but I would have preferred this as well. They should have made it like in Salieri's case where his normal human form is selectable at least.
What was the reasoning they used for it anyway? Believable/acceptable or feeling somewhat shoehorned in?
I hope we get the human form as alternate costume. Before that, I will just enjoy the doujins where asura zombie centaur mates with not TA.
I doubt we'll get a costume that changes a character's appearance that much.
