Fate's Awakening ~ The God and Destiny Cross Thesis Reformation

You are no stranger to angels or devils.

Having lived your entire life around one or the other, you are certainly a human that has a rather broad range of what's real, and what's not real, and to be honest, you can't really say that your life is normal because of it. Sure, you are not the only human here, but the other humans, the elders, speak of a world without angels or devils, one populated only by humans, but it's a world that you've never seen.

Not that it matters, your life isn't that bad, even if you live around things that your ancestors would have sworn were little more than myths and legends. You go to school, just like they did in the past, and sure, some of your classmates have wings, can fly, and can use magic, but that's just how it is you know, humans aren't supernaturally gifted, but they're good at adapting, you probably have friends, in one way or another, and having friends with superpowers is always nice, not to mention you're pretty sure humans with wings were a fetish in the old world, but...

    Sometimes, things just happen.

Maybe you got hit by a runaway car, maybe you wandered too far from the city and some monster got you, maybe you picked a fight with someone who could literally break you in half, or maybe they just so happened to catch it during a medical examination.

But no matter the reason, you've been found to be compatible with a Fate-Awakening Crystal.

And for you, a normal, squishy humie, that means just one thing.

    "Congratulations. You are now God."

    Shit just happens sometimes.

Sometimes your car breaks down, sometimes your water gets cut off because you forgot to pay a bill, and sometimes you go to sleep and wake up as God.

    Just normal everyday things.

    *An Awakened Fate Ultimatum Roleplay*

    Things you should know

    1. There used to be three worlds. Celestia, where Angels reside, the Human World, and the Netherworld, which Devils call home.
    2. Angels and Devils are normally perpetually at war. They no longer remember the reason, but so many of their own have died during the course of the millennia-long war that neither side was willing to drop it under normal circumstances.
    3. The Human World was destroyed in an apocalypse known as the Fimbulwinter. A decent amount of humans managed to survive due to aid from Celestia/Netherworld, however, they are not nearly as numerous as they used to be.
    4. The Fimbulwinter was caused by the ”Demon God,” known as F.A.T.E. It proved itself to be so powerful that a peace agreement was signed by Celestia and the Netherworld for the purposes of taking it down before it wiped everyone out like it did to the human world.
    5. The unified army managed to seal it’s main body in the destroyed Human World. In spite of this, it continues to send monsters after Celestia and the Netherworld in order to destroy them. However, the monsters are only a mild threat, and thus life has started to stabilize, and missions to reclaim the lost human world have begun.

    Character

With a little over 20,000 students, Ecclesia, located on the "Lost Genesis" Celestia, is the one and only academy city created by both Angel and Devil hands, as well as the only school with a heavy focus on military action. Here, not just talented Angels and Devils, but humans that have become "God," come to learn how to not only become the backbone for their home city, but also to grow stronger so that, one day, the world that was lost all those years ago can be one day reclaimed by their rightful owners, and the monsters sent by a sealed abomination can become a thing of the past.

You are one of the "15 Gods of Genesis," one of the few humans capable of using the power of a Fate-Awakening Crystal without becoming a horrific monster in the process. While you are a new God, your existence itself guarantees that you'll cause a splash in the community, one that will ultimately shift and shape the nature of the "Everyday School Life," that the other students enjoy.

Other than the occasional life or death mission to the world below. Although some people seem to enjoy that too.

While you are here to learn how to be a proper God, you are, after all, God, and thus, people will look to you for help and guidance, whether you want them to or not. Other Gods may see you as a threat to their own power, some may befriend you, some may not care at all, but one way or another, your normal human life is definitely over.

    Stats

Every being that carries the title of "God," can be called nothing less than superhuman. Capable of healing from almost anything, as well as casually showing absolutely ridiculous feats of speed and strength, even newly created Gods are capable of widespread destruction with their physical ability alone, and when wielding magic, can singlehandedly pose a threat to even armies of monsters. However, there is some variance amongst Gods when it comes to mental and physical ability, just as there is variance in humans, but typically they can be measured by the following categories:

For those of you who want a scale, STR will be used as the “illustration” stat

    F = 10 (Disgraceful)
    E = 20 (Doing a bit better)
    D = 40 (Definitely not human.)
C = 60 (Just casually flicked a car at you tier)
    B = 80 (MGR) STANDING HERE, I REALIZEEEEEEEE
A = 100 (Bayonetta) Someone dropped a satellite on you. You caught it and threw it back.

Strength (STR) - Even God finds use for a good old punch to the face every once in awhile, although the psychological torment that comes with being punched in the face by God may do just as much damage as your absolutely unfair muscles.

Endurance (END) - The physical constitution of your body as well as your ability to resist conditions like exhaustion, broken bones, poison, mystery food X, etc. Literally always one of the more important stats, but one that people sadly tend to overlook. God should be a tank, if God goes down to one super laser, then he was a pretty crappy God.

Agility (AGI) - The main speed stat, and one that mostly represents “brute speed,” rather than reflex, although it does aid with tasks that require dexterity. Determines how many actions can be taken in a round without penalty, how well you can move around the battlefield and close in on an enemy, and aids immensely in determining whether or not you are able to completely avoid an attack.

Sense (SEN) - The second stat that has an effect on evasion and speed, and can be called the measure of the character’s understanding of the environment, as well as their capacity to respond to any changes that appear in it. Also acts as the strength of the characters “spiritual sense.” Helps one to avoid surprise attacks and locate hidden opponents, as well as recognize other types of hidden “dangers.”

Fate (FATE) - The capacity to manipulate and defy fate, as well as an indicator of how much your Fate Awakening Crystal has grown from it’s original state. A special stat that possesses an inherent value of 20; it cannot be changed from this during character creation in any way. As God, the capacity to manipulate fate is one of your strongest abilities, however, it is also the one that is the most difficult to control, as well as train. While the Fate Awakening Crystal does grant the power to manipulate fate to an extent, the only way to strengthen that power is by gaining the belief of others. "Only a God that is acknowledged as God by others has the right to control Fate."

Basically, God runs off friendship. (Or fear if you’re a special kind of asshole)

While there have been some cases of a God with as little as two believers taking down one with much more, these situations are rare enough to be called exceptions, and the two believers in question (the two people whose souls were merged with his, and thus whose belief was worth a lot) were believing really freaking hard.

In addition to these, two other stats exist, Celes and Nether, only one of which you will be able to influence beyond the lowest rank, depending on your choice of where you grew up, Celestia, or the Netherworld. In order to help with this decision, both will be discussed in brief below:

Celestia: The name not just for the dimension humans once called “Heaven,” but also the general term for the massive floating cities that exist within this dimension, on which both Angels and Humans reside. While they all possess the facilities of a normal city, the fact that angels have always been caught up in some sort of war has made it so that all Celestia are comparable to moving fortresses.

Armed with stealth systems that enable them to avoid detection, the outer layer of Celestia are almost always lined with gorgeous buildings, like those royalty would live in; however, these buildings are almost all dummies. All important facilities are located underground. While originally rather old fashioned, the mass adoption of humans by various Celestia has led to the appearance of such things as movie theaters, bars, human schools etc, appearing along with the military facilities.

The Leader of a Celestia is called an archangel, and while the title of God would ordinarily be higher, they are actually outranked by the Archangel, because “God,” is ultimately a “Weapon.”

While their personalities can vary, just as the personalities of humans can vary wildly, a large amount of angels are somewhat prideful, seeing themselves as beings of absolute good, devils as being of absolute evil, and humans as beings that “need their protection.” There is a prevalent inherent dislike and distrust of devils in Celestial cities, although the current peace treaty with the Netherworld, which has lasted for around 200 years without being broken, has also started to change the opinions of some, who have begun to realize that perhaps judging by race alone is a wrong thing to do. All angels are humanoid in appearance, and possess wings and a halo that they can hide away if they so choose.

While the school facility “Lost Genesis,” was constructed by both Angels and Devils, it’s main design is more that of a Celestia than a Netherworld base, because a mobile school was believed to be the safest sort in the unlikely event that F.A.T.E were to escape its bonds.

Netherworld: A large wasteland below the human world where Devils, humanoid Demons, call home. While there is much more land here than in Celestia, the majority of it is infertile and worthless, and as a result, the places where you find devil villages are those rare patches of land that are even slightly fertile.

Unlike Celestia, which is more or less stable all around, the disparity of wealth in the Netherworld is severe; with the differences between the major cities and the villages being drastic rather than subtle. With the momentary end of the war with the Angels, these issues have begun to be tackled, leading to social reform, but most devils continue to carry a more “pragmatic,” mindset in comparison to Angels.

Just as Angels tend to carry an inherent dislike of them, most Devil’s also tend to carry a cultural dislike towards Angels, however they get along with humans well enough, and while Angels can be said to appeal towards “saint-like,” humans, Devils seem to bond better with “everyone else,” because their social structure is less rigid and more open to “sinful,” actions. Just as in Celestia, human technology has become prominent in Netherworld cities as well.

However, they are also known for taking “dirty actions,” during war in the distant past, placing villages of women and children close to their bases so that Angels cannot target them with their more powerful weapons without the obvious moral dilemmas, although there were also a lot of devils did not agree with these practices either, and would just rather that all the fighting stop so that they can live in peace. While Angels are led by an Archangel, the leader of the Devil cities is simply known as “General,” or "Overlord." Those that become “God,” with a Fate Awakening Crystal from the Netherworld are sometimes called “Vile Gods,” but their functions are the exact same as a normal “God.”

    ----

Now, you may be asking why this is relevant to your power levels, however when a human becomes “God,” part of the soul of both an Angel and a Demon must be offered to the crystal as a sacrifice. In most cases, a close friend, family member, teacher, etc, would be the one that gives up part of theirs for your sake. For instance, if you live in Celestia, you know people who are angels, and thus, the angel who sacrifices would be an angel who knows you and thus, you would know the powers that you are inheriting from them. However, an agreement between Celestia and the Netherworld states that both sides would have a “hand,” in the “creation of every God,” and thus, the Devil you would be soul linked with is someone you don’t know, and will not meet until you arrive at the Academy.

In essence, if you grew up in Celestia, you are allowed to increase Celes because your angel (who you would write a general blurb about) is around to teach you how to control the powers you inherited from them, and the opposite is true if you grew up in the Netherworld.

The other stat cannot go beyond F.

So, at the start, you will be leaning towards one side or the other, however, “God grows towards balance,” so worry not.

Celes: The measure of one’s control over the angelic energy generated by the Fate Awakening Crystal, as well as the amount of spells they have mastered that involve the use of said energy. Every ten points invested in this stat is worth a spell slot. Unlike Nether magic, Celes spells are capable of healing and reinforcement (although even God cannot revive the dead), as expected of angels, and the elements under their dominion are:

    -Lightning
    -Water
    -Light (Obviously)
    -Healing/Support
    -Wind (Neutral element)

Nether: The measure of one’s control over the demonic energy generated by the Fate Awakening Crystal, as well as the amount of spells they have mastered that involve the use of said energy. Every ten points invested in this stat is worth a spell slot. Unlike Celes magic, Nether spells lose less pure damage potential when adding bonus “negative,” affects to a spell:

    -Fire
    -Darkness
    -Curses (Debuffs, Magical Bleeding, etc)
    -Earth/Metal
    -Wind (Neutral element)

You have 280 points to distribute amongst six attributes. (Fate cannot be manipulated. It is always 20 at creation) Every stat must have at least 10 points, and points should be spent in multiples of 10.

    Spells & Perks

    Spells

While powerful, God is neither omnipotent nor omniscient, and thus while there is no technical limit to the amount of spells he/she can learn, they still have to go through the learning process, and thus, in that regard, they are “limited” by the amount of time they have spent alive.

You may notice that there is also no traditional “Mana,” stat, and the reason for this is rather obvious.

He/She is not omnipotent, but God does not run out of MP.

    God is God.

    Kinda.

Nevertheless, while the Fate Awakening Crystal acts as a sort of limitless mana engine for it’s host, there is a limit to the rate at which it can safely produce the energy, as well as the type of energy it produces. Every spell used a turn consumes a certain amount of energy dependent on it’s rank, with F = 1 and A = 6. If you go beyond your FATE rank (20 in this case) your crystal overloads, and your body suffers severe damage as backlash. While you can still continue to use magic even in this state, the toll is taken out of your body, and if you push too hard, you may just find yourself becoming less of a God, and more of a monster...

Thankfully, so long as you don't overload it, the crystal refreshes itself every three turns (returns to 0) barring the use of FATE abilities, which leave a longer lasting mark on your crystal.

When it comes to spells or magically enhanced techniques, rank is more of a measure of scale than it is the actual damage behind an attack. Even an F-Rank spell can do some serious damage to someone if it lands, however, because the scale of the attack is generally smaller, they also tend to be easier to avoid.

To put it in visual terms, if an F rank attack is a simple bolt of lighting, an A rank would be a literal electric storm, large enough to cover several city blocks, and thus, much more difficult to completely avoid, even if the overall power behind each bolt isn’t much higher than it was at F rank.

Additionally, remember that the more things a spell does, the weaker the overall pure damage potential it has, and that angelic and demonic energy can only be successfully mixed together by a very experienced “God,” which you are not, at least not yet. So only spells of one alignment or the other can be cast each turn.

Finally, don’t expect any spell to be capable of one-shotting a God-tier opponent. (Other Gods, Archangels, Overlords, etc.)

    Spells like that don’t exist.

    Perks

This whole God thing was dropped on you rather suddenly, but even if you don’t have all of the skills “God,” should possess, you were a human, you did know certain skills, might have had certain items that defined you, and this is the place for those things. You can have two different perks from your time spent as a human; naturally, you were still human, so stuff like “being the greatest swordsman,” won’t pass, nor will anything that would give you more spells, because you weren’t able to use magic until you became God.

    Deitization & Fate Abilities

    Deitization & Awakened Armaments

A truly miraculous item, the Fate Awakening Crystal not only enables the use of magic as a spell caster, but also allows God to assume a powerful “battle form,” creating not just armor, but a special armament for it’s host to use as well. This transformation process is known as Deitizing. God is capable of assuming two different forms in this way, one based around angel powers, and the other around devil powers.

While both forms carry slightly differing forms of the armor (the strength of which will remain a mystery) the armament created in each form is completely different. It can be any sort of equipment, from something as classical as a sword or a shield, to something more modern like a gun, and each carries a single, passive, special ability of its own. (Always on fire, sharper during the day/night, bullets track the target, etc.)

While powerful, they are not indestructible, and can be broken. However, the Crystal will just make you another identical one in the event that your old one was destroyed, however, this process takes time.

Assuming and maintaining one of these forms costs 3 points of energy a turn, additionally, while in one of these forms, you take reduced damage from spells of your alignment, however, you take more damage from spells of the opposite alignment. (Angel form is weak to Devil form and vice versa)

Naturally, this sort of equipment cannot be used outside of their respective forms.

    Fate Abilities

Now, artificially created or not, you wouldn’t be much of a God if you couldn’t do blatantly unfair things to other people with nonsense fate magic, although use of these abilities leaves a “day-long” mark on your crystal, with the normal “refresh,” rate doing nothing to remove the points towards overloading the use of these abilities brings.

This sort of magic is difficult to shape, and more often than not, it’s effects are more passive in the world around you, creating chances to defy fate that normally wouldn’t exist, etc, but when wielded openly, it allows one to emulate God to a certain extent. Not super customizable like spells, at character creation, you are able to pick up to two of the abilities below for their character to use, although these are far from the only ones that exist. Costs are stated along with the ability.

    -Descend-
    Cost: 5

While everyone who exists as “God,” can hear the prayers directed at them specifically, this is the ability to warp time and space in order to instantly appear at the side of the one who requested your aid. The speed of the technique is such that you could claim to have “been there the whole time,” and thus, so long as they had time to contact you, you are never actually too late.

Also pretty handy for bailing out of social obligations.

    -Fate Breaker-
    Cost: 5

Negate the effects of all fate abilities aimed at you, your spells (or whoever you use this on) for a single turn.

    -Closed Future-
    Cost: 3

The next attack of the user is guided by fate itself, and in one way or another, will definitely strike the opponent, even if it has to outright warp reality to do so. Ignores evasion possibilities, including those made possible by lower types of magic. Can be countered with Fate Breaker. When it collides with Reality Denial, the two cancel each other out, and things play out as they would without the fate buff. Does not automatically pierce shields.

    -Reality Denial-
    Cost: 3

The next attack that would hit you is rejected by fate. Even if you are tied to the floor, someone is standing on your chest, and is about to smash you with some sort of heavy blunt object, the world itself will screw over the attack somehow.

    -God’s Prayer-
    Cost: 10

Completely restore the physical state of someone else, regardless of the type of afflictions they possess, or the severity of their wounds. Cannot be used on oneself, or those that have already died, and thus, cannot be considered a “true miracle.”

    Celestia "Lost Genesis"

The largest Celestia currently in existence, “Lost Genesis,” also known as “Ecclesia,” or the “Academy City,” is a school where students of all ages go to study in preparation for military duty against the monsters employed by F.A.T.E. As a school, it is fairly exclusive, with difficult entrance exams barring entry to weaker individuals. However, by this same token, it is also the only school in existence that accepts both angel and devil students (and the rare human magician) as well as the only facility that is trusted with the training and maintenance of those called “God.”

An extremely large city, almost the entire Celestia is the Academy, with a population in the tens of thousands, 80% of which possess direct ties to the school in some way. Like all Celestia, the majority of the city’s facilities are located underground, with the city being divided into various levels, each of which handle a different aspect of the day to day function of the city. However, unlike most Celestia, the top level of the city, the part exposed to air, is in fact put to use by its inhabitants, having been built in an era where the paranoia of the past could safely be let go. The main school building, which is what actually possesses the name “Ecclesia,” exists at the center of this top layer, surrounded by a rather sizable garden of fruit trees.

Most of the management and defense of the city is handled primarily by the Student Council and students. Those that possess the title of “God,” acknowledged school wide as the strongest students, (although some non god faculty can still beat them down) tend to find themselves in charge of gangs units, and since the top level is the favorite hang-out for quite a few of them, most monsters that make their way to the flying city are dealt with rapidly anyway, and thus, even though the Celestia itself exists in the skies above the frozen human world, it is still considered to be the “safest Celestia.”

Fate itself seems to bend at times for the purposes of keeping the student’s alive, which, considering the circumstances and population, is an entirely possible side effect of the gathered Gods presence.

Now, while most would think that having both Angels and Devils in the same school facility would result in eventual violence, the students of the Academy are actually surprisingly tolerant of each other, a good chunk of the school over the old cultural dislikes.

However, fights do still happen, and when they do, they tend to be gang related affairs, God’s being overprotective of their underlings, trying to test their power against the others, etc. Fighting tournaments are also not unheard of, competition being seen as the best motivator for growth, and this year in particular, it seems some serious events have been set up for the future...

    Terminology
Fate-Awakening Crystal: An artificially created crystal that, when combined with a compatible human, can transform them into God. Highly difficult to create, the souls of both an angel and a devil must be sacrificed to the crystal in order to control the vast power of God. While this originally meant that an angel and a devil would have to lose their lives to create God, the process has been refined to the point where only half of the necessary souls must be offered to the crystal, thus allowing the donors to survive. Through this process, the donors and the recipient become linked at the heart, the human that gets the crystal becomes "God," while the angel and the devil become the "Right Hand," and "Left Hand," of God, respectively.

The Crystal can be used to convert (and consequently revive) even dead humans, so long as that human was compatible with the crystal in question.

God: A human being that has been implanted with a Fate-Awakening Crystal, which takes the place of their heart, and successfully ascended to the state of "God." A form of humanoid ultimate weapon, the original reason for the existence of God was to annihilate the Netherworld, however, the Devil’s managed to create a God of their own, and thus rather than the war coming to an end, it merely escalated the battles to higher levels.

Capable of wielding both angelic and demonic power, as well as being capable of manipulating and controlling the forces of fate itself, those who call themselves God are more often than not the strongest person on the battlefield. Their ability to survive is astounding, as long as their Crystal remains within their body, and their body still has some sort of form, they will eventually recover from pretty much any sort of wound.

On the flip side, if one were to somehow rip the Fate Awakening Crystal out of God, he/she would die immediately. Thankfully, this isn’t as simple as it sounds.

Crystals will defend themselves if necessary.

Thanks to the peace treaty, an abnormal amount of “Gods,” are currently active in the world, however, it seems one aspect of their training is purposefully being neglected by the school.

Hands of God: The name for those angels and devils that have offered part of their soul to a Fate Awakening Crystal, and are thus forever linked with the God who was implanted with the Crystal. Just as God gets a boost from the crystal, those who are linked to God also gradually increase in strength, not to the same insane extent or pace as the Artificial God, but enough that, if the two of them were to fight together, they would be considered to be "roughly," as powerful as the God their souls helped create.

F.A.T.E: The being responsible for the destruction of the human world, which has since been used as its prison. Called a “Demon God,” it does possess a Fate Awakening Crystal of its own, and thus can be safely assumed to have been a human, at least at one point. However, no one knows what its human form looks like, whether it’s male or female, or even exactly where it originated, although since all God’s are made artificially, either the Angels or the Devils must be responsible for its creation.

Regardless of who made it, as “God,” it’s power surpasses that of other artificial gods to an absolutely unfair extent. It can kill it’s enemies through direct manipulation of their fate (a thing that only other Gods are resistant to) and even if that doesn’t work, it’s spells have enough power to “take down a Celestia in one shot.”

The seal in which it is bound is a multi-layered magic circle. Since one circle would not be enough to hold it for any reasonable amount of time, they trapped it within two, and then continued to construct circle after circle around it while it was imprisoned; ultimately, it is a seal that is said to be 100 layers “or so” deep.

    Airen please no

    It's not that bad guys.

    But Ga Rei-

Is still my precious true RP. Just starting a less serious thing on the side because I just feel like it, and there won't be nearly as many slots here. And if you're somehow still worried, don't worry, if one of the RPs has to die, it'll be this one, no one is taking my Ga Rei from me, not even me, or reality-!

Well maybe reality, but reality would have to try pretty damn hard.

But yeah, starting a less srs thing, let's play God

I see stats. Stats imply some form of minmax exists. Minmax implies seriousness-!

This is an RP where becoming God is more or less just a matter of winning some sort of celestial lottery. Look at that title, is that the title of a srs RP, it's dripping with chunni, and we should be okay with that.

Anyways, let's say three slots. Because I'm not quite as insane as people think.

    1.)
    2.)
    3.)

    Candidates

1.) Senel E. Locke - "Messiah of the lazy" - Erlkonig
2.) Väinämöinen - "My god can't be this short" - Mooncake
    3.) Mordred - "I stand alone" - Omida
4.) Shintarou Shishioka - "Might actually be Jesus" - Mellon
    5.) Abraham D. Washington - "AMERICA" - Verg Avesta
6.) Michea Valentine - "She didn't give you permission to speak" - Sei
7.) Surga Utopia - "What happened to my normal everyday life" - palad1n
8.) Gabriel Addison - "Totally not what it looks like" - Vri
9.) DEUS - "God has no need for gravity" - Bloble
10.) Ryusei Nakata - "There is no hell, just darkness" - Zagrin
11.) Ryshia Eines Mellei - "Goddess of Lilies, will certainly go far places" - Race

    Exodus (Complete)

Even if the author is silenced, the performance is stilled and the actors leave the stage, the story will never truly end.

Regardless of the form it takes, as long as there are memories of it's existence, the story will continue on.

In a small ward in the heart of a once devastated town, life carries on as it always has...

    Because of you.

    Please, remember it warmly.

We'll continue to walk down this path for eternity.

We'll say deadline is September 4th.

Got two full sheets so far. Have looked at a couple of incomplete others. The chuuni is real, as it should be.

So since I know people are probably having a hard time coming up with spells, I decided to open a spell resource doc so people can write in whichever spells they can come up with, and see if it doesn't inspire others.

    I'm bored

Just finished checking this one out. Does that mean that I have to modify my character's sheet to include 'chuuni description'?

Also, does flight is something natural or is it a wind spell?
