Forest East of Oakhurst, House Leorn, Sania
May 5th, 1502 AE
Evening
I don’t have many landmarks to get my bearings. I either go back to the beach with that weirdo, head into deeper into this unknown forest, or go back to the castle, the only symbol of civilization. Picking the somewhat known over the unknown or the rather not known, I decide to make my way north towards the castle.
The trip through the forest is largely uneventful. A deer or some other creature gets startled by my presence, though I don’t get a good enough look at it. Things seem to get darker yet as clouds begin to fill the sky. I get the feeling it is likely to start raining soon.
I eventually emerge from the forest by the side of an old road. Ancient bricks poke up above the ground and grass here and there across a clearing. Down the path to my right looms the shadow of the castle and the sphere of darkness above it. Before it I can make out the aura of lights, though I can’t tell from what.
This presents to me a new quandary. I could go to the castle, but I could see where else the roads go. Surely if they made a road, it must go somewhere.
1) Go to the castle.
2) Follow the road.

Evening
The sense of impending rain gets stronger. While I could explore where the road goes, the castle, despite the ominous ebony sphere, promises warmth and shelter. I take one last look down the road before making my way towards it.
As I approach, I realize how poor a state the castle is in. Much of the central structure has exploded outwards, and even some of its perimeter spires have largely fallen into the sea below. A large stone bridge still reaches from the castle to the cliffs on the mainland. I get shivers of grim familiarity just looking at it. I can hear the shouts of combat even this far from it.
At the foot of the bridge is a camp of white tents I quickly recognize as belonging to the pearly armored warriors from the iconography. I can only assume they are besieging the darkly clad ones like madman on the beach.
I can feel the light patter of rain on my dark skin as it begins to rain.
I realize too late I’ve done little to conceal myself, and a pair of armored guards approaches me. They my body thoroughly, prompting me to try and cover myself. Part of me wants to run, they seem much stronger than the madman. However where would I go in this swiftly deteriorating weather? For now I will have to trust that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
“Are you okay m’lady?” asks one of them, stepping closer to me than the other. While his skin is pale like the madman’s along with his short ears, he has a much more youthful, pleasant look to his face. He blushes and is clearly struggling to stay focused on my face. Perhaps he’s not so bad after all.
“I’m l-lost,” I stammer. It’s first time I’ve spoken. Despite understanding the language it is not the one that the thoughts in my head use. Even so, my voice is remarkably melodic and smooth compared to his. It is like the ocean compared to the ragged fortress, even while stumbling for words.
The scout looks back at his friend who seems less polite than he is, then removes his own cloak and hands it to me, politely looking away, “You should put something on, or you’ll catch a cold.”
“Th-thank you,” I reply as I slip it on. Despite just being a cloak, his larger frame makes it almost a robe for me. I tie it on and hold the rest closed with a hand.
After a moment he turns back to me, relieved that he no longer has to struggle with curtesy, “We should get you inside. It is not safe here this night.”
He offers me his hand and I see little cause to refuse. He has shown me only curtesy so far, even fighting with his baser instincts. I give a polite nod and take it. Curiously before we go he puts my hood up. Perhaps to obscure my ears from his companions.
He leads me into the camp. It is fairly large, there are currently about 15 people here, though there are tents for at least another 15. The others seem to largely ignore me, instead keeping watch or hurrying to secure the tents against the building downpour. He leads me into a small tent with single bedroll and chair. I take the signal and sit down.
The knight gives me a polite bow, “If you would wait here, I shall go get the commander. She will likely want to talk to you.”
1) Let him go and wait patiently for the Comander.
2) Let him go and try to sneak another peek at what’s going on in this camp.
3) I’m wearing something now, time to run!
4) Knock him out when his back is turned, I can steal his stuff then get out of here.
5) Can he just call for someone to get her? I feel a bit lonely and he’s the first good company I’ve met.

1, we're safe now, no need to be rude and cause a commotion.
Spoiler:
Doing 2 and 1 seems to be the best of what we can make of our situation at the moment.
