Do they want to be that potion researcher working in isolation brewing new potions? Do they want the fame and notoriety to springboard them to other endeavors? Do they want to teach? I think this question revels more about who someone is than almost anything else we could ask. And it has the plus side of not being a question that someone would not want to answer, thought they might edit their answer a bit in some cases. Lestrange goal is become the best alchemist ever and join the CAS for example.

I am not sure but I might be asking what the goals question was asking in different words. But to me they differ in asking what someone wants later from all of this vs say what they want during the PC.

Asking about the schools seems safe and all, but I doubt it gives any useful information. Especially since people are not a full product of their schools always. Shinji certainly is not, nor are people with more diverse training like Elesa.

Remember that this is the first day, and the champions probably already had to answer that line of questioning before interacting with Shinji. It is likely that they are fed up about having to indulge the press and sponsors, and simply want to relax and sate some of their curiosity with idle chat.

Choice 244: As might be expected, there are some questions about the Tri-Wizard Tournament and his role there, as well as his relationship with the Champion of Mahoutokoro. How should Shinji respond?

Is it about being Fleur's bodyguard? Then;

As can be expected during competitions with prestige at stakes, mistakes are bound to happen, which could damage international relationships permanently. That he wanted to promote a feeling of unity. It was obviously mistaken for him being a flirt, but it was an acceptable sacrifice for the sake of keeping the countries from alienating each other any further.

As for Ayaka;

I have spent the last day thinking about if they were better answers to this question but really Daiki's write in answers them well enough. I might argue that Shinji might use the word friend when refering to Ayaka as they are somewhat distant friends at this point. But acquaintances is certainly accurate and I think Shinji will fill in the details anyway so its all good.

The only comment I had on the why all the Fleur bodyguard actions, I would say that Shinji is likely to also add in his defense that he used with the Ourea in that Fleur is not the type of person that wishes harm to anyone and was unfairly targeted. But still the write in is the most important part in his explanation that he would give.
