Miscellaneous Fanfiction Writing Thread (Solicit Advice Here)

Not sure why I try to help you people, but I discovered a thing I wanted to share. Just spent an stupid amount of time working with Empty Gold on it and now feel like it might actually become what I want it to. I wanted to actually use the software before reccing it to many people.

Anyway, I won't link you because mobile and don't want to be schill it too much, but if you want truly robust, free outlining software, please google "bibisco."

It is amazing. It has tabs that allow you to keep track of various elements of your story including narrative threads, characters, and locations. Then, you can tag your chapters and scenes with informational tags it has helped you define. It automatically generates stats for you so you can see the distribution of certain elements visually. And the BEST thing about this software is its character info screen. For those of you who make OCs I bet it would be even more helpful but it has the option to let the software interview you about the character. You can format your responses however you like but the questions are so thorough and great and help guide your thoughts and make sure you didn't miss anything. Even if you're writing canon characters as I do, it's great to see how they got to where they are in your fic.

If you are doing anything more plotty than porn, this thing is just great so. Now you know.

That is definitely a possibility, but I find that it sort of streamlines things to motivate you to actually complete all the puzzle pieces in a way that it leads to actual writing. What I was doing with it was trying to work on my already 40k+ Empty Gold fic to try to outline the rest of it better, so I just dumped the content of each scene into its little slot, unformatted, no-paragraph breaks mess that it put it in and all. However, when I continue the fic it actually will allow me to either directly write each new scene in a formatted textbox it has on its own or to simply create an outline, export it, and use it in my standard word processor. What I'm trying to say is that if you actually use it properly I think this is the most actually-writing friendly outlining doohickey I've ever seen.
