So I did a bit more research into trying to figure out why my faces looked so wonky. I found 2 things out. 1) I was starting the eye where the brow should have been started instead. 2) Strictly using realistic guidelines for anime proportions make things seem slightly off-putting all around.
So to experiment with this newfound 'knowledge' I decided to go more realistic as an experiment to see if my small fix + realistic proportions would look better
