Fate/Extella - New EXTRA Action Game

Gameplay wise, this game is a pretty big improvement over TUS. Big thing that I still struggle to remember is that you do more damage with back attacks, hard to remember when you're button-mashing peons and using your multitask brain power to try and follow the voice and subtitles. @_@

One thing I'm still trying to figure out is how the fuck to synthesize Install Skills.

Link runs a hell of a lot better than TUS did; I've only had two instances of slowdown/choppiness so far, when I was playing Jeanne on a FoW map and another time as Darius. Not sure if it was because of the stage or characters I picked. :|

The controller support is bad. They decided to just number the buttons so you're forced into just pressing random buttons to figure out which button corresponds with which number, and the remapping forces you to choose from a specific list. I'm pretty sure the Switch Pro controller didn't even have enough buttons as I couldn't figure out how to lock on during the tutorial level, but then again I didn't try for very long.

I just decided to go M+KB which isn't as bad as I expected. Worse thing I've noticed is the camera seems jittery when walking in a straight line + hands off mouse, but I'm not sure if that's just an issue on my end. Overall it's good enough.

Also the gameplay is definitely better, at least in comparison to the original. ngl the story is absolute shit though. I'm not done yet (done 2 endings, halfway through third) but so far it's a resounding "is this really it".

I can't boot up to check but I'm 99% sure that actually opened the pause menu, at least for the Switch Pro controller. Only reason I remember is because I found it very odd it would be mapped there.

I don't know why you even have high expectations for the story when it was stated to be a filler b4 Extella 2. Just think of it as your average FGO event.

That's the thing, I didn't have high expectations. It managed to fail even those. It might as well be the Arcade mode of a fighting game.

Alright, actually finished the game now. Overall I like Charlie/Karl but think the execution was very poor.

I'm not sure why they went with the "three endings" thing in this game. In the first game the multiple routes obviously served a story purpose. Here it was just forced and diminished the overall impact of the story. If they just focused on one singular journey I feel like they'd have a better chance of executing this properly.

Also unless I'm missing something the Archimedes thing is never explained? There wasn't even an after credits sequence or anything. The entire game pretends the events of the first game went down differently.
