By restrictive it's talking about how in the main story you will only get the choice of playing of three characters out of sixteen with the others being delegated into NPC roles whose influence on the story is really small compared how it is in other Fate series, and that's even taking account both Extra and CCC. You could play those Servants in their side stories or gameplay mode but ultimately most of them was just there with little impact on the story when compared to the main 3. I can see why that would be a problem.

I mean, that's a really easy problem to fix. They should have just had the player switch to a new character in their faction in-between each new mission, or at least present the option. Y'know, like every Warriors game released in the past six or seven years? That they relegated you to only 3/16 Servants in the main campaign was just dumb design, which Extella is full of.

Like, for real, Extella's quality as a Warriors game is about on par with 2005's Dynasty Warriors 5. And I do mean 'about', cause Dyanasty Warriors 5 was actually pretty fucking lit.

Oh the story seems to be a continuation of Nero Golden route, inb4 new Nerowank hate train coming lol.

I'm not sure why anyone would hope for otherwise, as it was pretty clear from Extella that it would be the route they continued for sequels.

Yeah, the other 3 routes got 'pruned' so it actually was the only route that could continue forward. :|

That's wrong both Nero's other route and Tamamo's route weren't pruned by the Timelock.

I definitely agree the first Extella's story needed to give you different characters to play as during the story stages. Even with the swap skill, you only had one alternative. For example I love Emiya but sometimes I'd have liked to play as a different member of Nero's team than him or Nero herself.

And it didn't help the fact that their sidequests were reusing maps from the main story, which clearly showed they didn't try to make them relevant at all.

There could be since the Moon Cell is reviving pretty much all the NPCs from past HOW conflicts and some masters as well, some of them even went to say hello to Hakuno in the end but so far we have had no hint that the ones we fought against are included in that.

Maybe I'm wrong but it's not that they're not trying, tbh, Marvelous is far away from producing AAA games, seriously they were still producing CCC for PSP only in 2013 lol. And Extella despite being on PS4 seemed to not have much budget too. Though it seems way better now with Link when I compare it with the last game they did (I don't remember the name) with 2007 PS3 graphics. I'm sure if Nasu could have afforded an AAA title with Platinum Games, it would have been insane.

I'm sure FGOs haul is enough to sponsor a decent AAA title along the likes of tomato
i highly doubt its worth the investment against other things you could do with that money
besides, it would require like 2-3 years of development
