I'd say to watch the anime first before going ahead and reading the VN. I just got confirmation from someone at the pre-screening event that it's

AND based on what Kotarou's VA said, it looks like we're getting 2 cours split. Someone else also managed to record just the audio from the pre-screening, and I can say it's gonna be fun for both VN readers and Anime watchers.

I already read the VN over 2 years ago, and I did listen to the audio and recognized some of the things they did.

Some more info from the pre-screening event when they were doing a Q&A I guess.

Spoiler:

- Radio Rewrite is resurrected.- For now the recording is at ep7.
- There are 4 mics for the recording and one almost belongs to morita as there are too many lines for him (xx lines for the girls but xxx lines for morita)
- ep 1-7 came from stuff which exists in the game. they didnt know there will be original content until the writer mentioned it.
- there will be an interview with tensho in the upcoming g magazine
- the thought of using an original route came up a year ago when the creators thought that the five game routes are too conflicting and that they will instead come up with a route that completely reflects the whole setting (!implied original route instead of five heroine routes )
- morita and saito said that there will already be a point in the anime on or before ep 7 that can make you teary eyed
- morita described the anime as of a "combat action genre"
- morita said rewrite will be the best anime of the season if excluding draogn ball
- morita will be voicing some lines in the additional scenes of rewrite+ and he thought the content is heart-wrenching and really burdensome
- morita said that they are only done with the first half of the first half

Voices was an impressive achievement, Place was good, but then his other major works just kind of start hitting the same emotional beats as those two and it gets dull.

I really don't have high hopes for Berserk as I fear that they'll massively truncate Conviction while also looking bad

Children was completely different, more like a Miyazaki movie. A mediocre Miyazaki movie.

Place Promised was like ef, only scifi rather than magical realism.

Garden makes me confused as to what is reality because it looks like the real places.

5 Cm was my life between the ages of fifteen and twenty, only in HD that I can't recall since I'm nearsighted.

Voices makes me wonder what I'm doing with my not-create-an-entire-movie-myself life.

I hate the people that are going to AX and have a chance to see Your Name. GIVE

1 is rough as fuck but 2 and 3 were fine.

Like realistically you can't match the manga no matter what because the budget required to match the art would be astronomical, but Fine is doable.

The first 2 cut way too much material on the hawks.
The 3rd was ok.

I'm kinda angry about Lost Children being skipped but I understand why

Well we don't know for SURE they're doing it but honestly of all the arcs that's the one you could stand to lose the most easily, despite it being better than BS.

Yeah, it's pretty insular and if you want to tell a consistent story through a few films, it's the easiest thing to skip.

I'm looking forward to ToC, at least.
