Hmm....not sure if it should go here, and I've got the impression that I'm the only one with this problem, but I'll post it anyways.


I've been having problems with coming to BL. Sometimes a page would take forever to load.
Refreshing would cause it to say its done loading, but all I see is a white screen.

I usually have to close all my BL tabs, open a new one and go to BL for it to be working again.

The same thing happens on both the Uni wireless and my home one; and every other site loads normally, so I don't think its a problem with my computer or network connection.

Very odd. I don't think anyone else has experienced problems like that... it sounds like you're getting dropped in transit from your PC to the server. If that's the case, that's a problem we can't exactly fix.

How many tabs are we talking about?

Very odd. I don't think anyone else has experienced problems like that... it sounds like you're getting dropped in transit from your PC to the server. If that's the case, that's a problem we can't exactly fix.

Hmm, it seems like there's some bug with the restrictions on rapid posting. I just posted one message, and then attempted to post another less than 10 seconds later. I got a message saying "this forum requires you to wait 10 seconds in between posts, please try again in 1 second", so I hit "post" again (since a second would obviously have elapsed), but it resulted in the same post being posted twice (which shouldn't even be possible, due to the system which stops accidental double-posts of that nature).

Don't post messages within ten seconds of each other. Problem solved.

Well, yeah, but it's hardly like I'm doing that intentionally. And, I'm not bothered by the limit itself (it's short enough not to be a significant issue), I'm just pointing out that there's a bug in the handling of it (although it's most likely a bug in the Proboards software itself, so you probably can't do much but report it to them).

I just posted a message in Random Forumite, this one in particular.

Without the blank face emote, it said the message was "too short" and had to be "extended by one character." How does that make any sense? Is this supposed to happen? :S

Yeah, you can't post zero-character messages, and images, quotes etc. don't count as part of the post length.

It is a feature of vBulletin, although whether it is a desireable feature is entirely another matter....

Yeah, it's kind of irritating, I agree, but it's not too much of a problem, in general. You just have to put a single character (even a hidden full stop) and it will work fine. It's not as bad as most vBulletin boards, which actually impose a minimum length of ten characters or so.

Don't know if this was mentioned already somewhere, but I'm kind of annoyed by those "leftovers" after the deleted message. Can't it be completely removed?

That's what I'd do if I wanted to simply quote a message. And no, I don't know if I can eliminate that easily.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you be a little more specific? As in, the bit saying the message got deleted?

Also if I delete a visitor massage in my profile, there is a box left saying this massage was deleted by... but I want to make it disappear completely.

Well, there's two types of deletion, permanent and temporary, I think. The permanent deletion is currently reserved for admins only, and removes said boxes, but the form of deletion us normal users are restricted to cannot (and, further, the post in question can still be read by admins).

You'll no longer see your own posts, but if someone else posts it, you'll get a deleted message. The boxes aren't empty (or shouldn't be); it should say "This message was deleted by such-and-such."

And I do think you're the only one complaining, so most folks seem to be fine with it.
