Mostly, I just talk to people. (To get their guard down.... /gg /evilgrin ) About random shit & I let them talk... If we have things in common, we talk more. Unless they annoy me then I either just listen or flat off tell them to go away. Most I consider just casual friends; the close ones require lots of time & bonding & having each other's backs. I make friends easily; I just have trouble keeping them because I often like being a shut-in & relaxing with my anime & video games... and don't realize "x" months have gone by without talking to said friends... -.-;
It does in a few rare cases. If it benefits you, the troll is memorable in some way, or said troll is bf/gf to one of your friends & you have to tolerate them....
Then you're doomed. (To rely on personality alone.)
But even if you don't think you are, someone else might disagree. There's more to cuteness than physical attractiveness.
Persistence is the key. It doesn't hurt to be cute/pretty & for them to take pity on you & try to teach you.... XP Asking questions/asking for advice also works.
I'm terrible too but I still play when I can. I loved playing Len in Melty and trolling with cats, cat-form, & random ice attacks. And Taokaka in Blazblue with her insane speed. If you love the game, others might see that love & relate? Maybe?
