Is it possible to implement that the OP can close his/her own threads?
Why not?
But what if the mods won't listen to your request to close a thread?

Dark blue people don't get to tell other people to shut up. Well, they do, but then you'll soon become orange people, thenred.

Can't tell me what to do.
But, yeah, sometimes we'll close/delete threads based on OP request, sometimes we won't. Depends on context. If it's something particularly specific to you (like a fanfic thread), then we're more likely to listen, but even then there are exceptions. Just because certain spoilt writers expect only praise and have a breakdown when the thread turns out otherwise, it doesn't mean we'll shield them. And if a thread's picked up enough interest, we usually hold that higher than the rights of whoever kicked the thing off.
