My stomach spins in unison with my mind. My body revolts against me, my throat fills with stinging fluids, and my mouth realizes a horrid flavor.
My vision blurs.
My body falls forward.
...Whatever was inside of my violently spills out onto the floor.
I don't want to be a part of this madness. Stuck in the middle of it... My first instinct is to run as far away from this as possible, if only to preserve my sanity. But that would do nothing to erase what I've just experienced. Even if I did distance myself from this place, the sight would still remain a scar on my mind. The blood seeped into my skin and clothes would only serve as a further reminder.
As a gaze deeper into the miserable puddle beneath me, I draw in a deep breath. The air I suck down strengthens the taste of vomit, but it also serves to calm my mind. The world around me stops moving, ever so slightly, and I'm able to regain a bit of my wit as well. The fear and confusion is still deeply set inside of me; however, at least now I feel as though I can face... "this". If only a little.
I pick myself up once more. My arms shake a little under my weight, but I'm finally able to stand after working myself to a knee. My eyes dance around-desperately- as I try to piece together exactly what is going on here. But the more I look, the more questions start to pile up.
I'm in a center of a large room. Judging by the pews scattered throughout the area, I'd have to guess this is a church of some sort. Or at least it was... Signs of fire can be seen in the burnt tapestries and blackened walls. As far as I can tell, there's nothing here that's still burning. Not even a single ember. But a thick heat still lingers in the air as if the fire were still raging on. But, most importantly, there's not a single sign of life in here.
I take another deep breath and prepare myself before turning around. Facing the dark mound once again, my entire body reels in disgust but I will myself to face forward. Above all else, this thing is what makes the least sense. Nothing can explain it. Not me or what seems to have happened to this place. It's just alien in nature and its sight alone is driving me mad. But... At the same time... I'm being drawn to it. I'm captivated by it and I don't know why...
A tar like substance born from writhing corpses...
How long have I spent standing here going on and on about it in my head?
...I don't know, but just standing here isn't going to get me anywhere.
I can feel my knees buckling beneath me, but I should be able to move now. Though I'm not exactly sure what good it'll do me.
