Pineapples are sweet. Pizza is not.
I find that the sweetness of the pineapple compliments the sauce.

Pineapple is good when paired with other toppings that complement it. You can't just stick it on any pizza.
Then again I've worked at a pizza place for about 6 years so I'm long past the point where my pizza choices make any sense. mmmm shrimp and olive pizza with hot sauce
The Greek place I work at turned me on to a fried eggplant+gyro meat pizza.
We enjoy roquefort, anchovies and pineapple pizza. People consider us monsters, and they're probably right.

And yeah hot sauce is a legit topping but you have to put it on before baking, you can't just pour it on afterwards like an animal.

I quite like pineapple, chemical warfare or not. But the only things I enjoy on pizza are in the fatty, salty lineup (pepperoni, olives, anchovies, and their brethren).

And over the years, I'm even becoming less enthusiastic about those and more about just plain tomato pie. With garlic and a few herbs, at the most.
