You sometimes use that word in your speech, I'm sure. When do you use it and what do you describe with it? Or do you want artists or 'art experts' to define the concept for you?

Depending on the theory one chooses to accept, videogames can be art, or they absolutely can't, or only some aspects of them, or only some games and not others.

I think the most useful solution to having different and equally correct definitions of art is to prefer one to another and go with it, because the concept is kinda fundamental in culture and can't be avoided.
I.e., whatisart is a copout answer that I included only because this is a shit poll in the first place.

Well, it can't be avoided. Which is precisely why it's a subject of so much discussion. A concept blindly accepted and adhered to, which never changes or reinvents itself, is as good as dead.

This answer is a bit of a problem because it does not differentiate between the whole and its elements. That video games can contain elements that have artistic merit is not a controversial claim. Whether the work as a whole can be deemed artistic is the big question.
The distinction between art and game is usually quite clear cut. Although there are definitions for both that can overlap.
