I really do like Fionn, it think he's a cool character, tho I wish had more examples to see exactly what his stuff actually does. What does his spear do when it goes on auto-attack? How strong is the water beam? How good is the healing water? Is it as good as Avalon or weaker? What does having great wisdom do as an effect, hwo does it change Fionn? Is it the same as Suzuka or different? Stuff like that.

Trouble with women. Is it not that he himself is surely the problem of this, and not that there was a problem with women? Up to his final moments, Fionn mac Cumhaill never really took that into consideration. Even now, having transformed into a Heroic Spirit and having materialized as a Servant, he still does not understand.

You'd think that after having 3 wives, the thought that he was the problem would have occurred to him. But no.

Oh the problem is still him, but, seriously, you'd be hard pressed to find a Celt--or, really, any pre-Christian hero--that has one mate. If he isn't killing them, Cu bones or marries practically every woman he comes across in his story.

Yes also note how the profile talks about his first wife, on 1) how special she was to him that he becomes different when thinking about her and 2) when it talks about the troubles he had with woman note that he didn't actual had a mishap with his first wife but with fairy women that was relating to his first wife. If I remember right the reason in myth of the conflict Fionn had with those woman had to do with that he was looking for his first wife thus rejected them or something like that.

Fionn was weird in America. I kinda doubt we'll learn much more about him unless they do a series for the third HGW or an Irish singularity in part 2.5 (if there is such a thing).

I think youngster Fionn is cool, tho it is interesting to see him in another class because with his voice lines implying that Lancer isn't his most fitted class and how Fintan Finegas has a different true name.

Also I think Diarmuid is cool. He's boring in GO but his viewpoint in Zero was interesting. Even how hyped I would be when Saber Diarmuid does come around I little bit regret that we won't have a Rider Diarmuid. That is Diarmuid has a story about how he sailed all the way to the land of the fairies, facing countless trials just to resurrect his favorite dog.

For me Diarmuid was ok in Zero, forgettable but not irritatingly bad or anything.

Then FGO made me realize the reason for that is that he just didn't have enough screen time. He's just a worse Lancelot, chivalrous to the point of silliness (made even worse when you remember he's loyal to Fionn) and way more annoying with the self-hatred shit.

I'm honestly surprised you like this Fionn, every time he appears he's the butt of the most unfunny jokes. It's like they purposefully write him to be as obnoxious as possible (to the reader rather than just the characters).

Whatever trait he has in GO comes from lack of screen time, not because he has more of it. In the Zero LN where you actually had him as a viewpoint character occasionally he was interesting or at least to me, as I saw how he thought about things.

Also Fionn isn't written to be the butt of jokes, that's the fans doing that. While in story Fionn may come off as silly, he's no where near the level butt monkey status that is on people like Blackbeard.

I didn't read Zero so I can't comment on the LN, but honestly considering his Interlude and everything else about him I doubt my opinion would change.

And not being as low as Blackbeard is not the same as not being a complete joke.

I'm not trying to just shit on your favorite characters but Fate just isn't doing them any favors so far. I don't even actively hate them or anything, I would just rather not ever see them again in anything because so far everytime they appear they bring down the quality of the story and my enjoyment of it a lot.

I'm not saying Diarmuids portrayal in GO isn't bad. I find it quite boring. It's just that having reading Zero I know the reasoning behind why he is like that and thinks like that, why he values loyalty and why he doesn't hold a grudge against Fionn. He's not even my favorite character really, I just know that he can be interesting.

Well maybe someday I'll read more of Zero than the Lancelot scenes and my opinion will change, but I'm so uninterested in him at this point that I bet even if his character is better explored I just won't care.

I found Diarmuid to be adequately explored in Zero, decently engaging at worst and at his best while suffering horribly and bleeding out cursing the reenactment of his fate.
