But I do find it funny how aside of Shimosa there is more than one story segment where Guda and Mashu are on their way to the proverbial fireworks factory, and run into Musashi who then wastes their time talking about herself for 4-6 nodes.
And the 'maybe there is just nothing inventive you can or should do about a long series that has completely played itself out' argument holds basically in the exact same way.
She's pushed really hard by the writing, and does not have much soul or personality to her.

I'm fine with male Musashi even if he's not as broken as Lostbelt Musashi. For ex, no Tengan but up his skill to even above Kojiro.

I imagine the question Nasu and co. are standing in front of right now is 'how do we make him literally the Vagabond guy but not really'.
They always make some content for him, and then they realize they can't actually make him not straight up the Vagabond guy, and so they give his content to the fake and that's how we wound up here. They didn't give her the oar NP though, because it's too lame, so they'll introduce some other peasant named by a samurai from the period, coincidentally also starring in the book, who actually was the one who smacked our own swallow peasant with an oar.
They seriously had one shot with giving him oni blood to make him not straight up the Vagabond guy but just someone who really looks like him (explaining the real-life ridiculous body features Musashi had to have to dual-wield two-handed swords, you need some serious fish fingers for that kind of fulcrum, not gentle female hands), but then they gave Tomoe that gimmick, so they can't use it for him anymore, so we'll never see him.
It might be for the better, because oni-Musashi would then have to be Berserker, which would just give us another blueball tobogan like with Herc, and nobody wants that.
I agree with them that it's better not to do anything at all when anything you could do would suck, but they should have stopped before fake Musashi was even a thing.

I don't into GG much but I watched the Evo at the very least. Top 8 has only one Johnny but he bodied everybody, it was terrifying.
I honestly would be stoked if they just make him straight Vagabond guy.

Assassin Ushi only brings you more pain.
She does not bring as much pain as a character you don't care about (Scathách, Sakura, any demi-servant host really) taking the place of a character that could have potentially been interesting (Pelé, every goddess within the Sakuraclones, Zhuge), but it still bites.
I'll take him over three quarters of the cast being potentially too good, but the less is said about him the better.

If Wild Male Musashi showed up, would he be more like Kojirou, Munenori or thug?
I'm not sure someone who always showed up 2-3 hours late before a pointed match will be as elegant as Kojirou
