They would have to know given they based the summoning around that ritual. I assume the Fuyuki Grail just can't summon one in the main timeline(s), and apparently can in Grand Order.

Ingame entry said his class is just Caster and said that he is "crown position" (aka Grand) magus summoned by Marisbilly. The mats listed him as Grand Caster with identical parameters to that. So maybe his parameter ranks are the same regardless of saint graph, just that the output of Grand saint graph's E rank is equal to maybe A rank of normal saint graph. Happened to Merlin as well, being listed as Grand Caster but rocking identical stuffs as the version we have. I think the next mats will most likely list King Hassan as Grand Assassin with identical parameters as the one Chaldea summoned.

I think You's point is that if Herc was Grand Archer, even if he is summoned as a normal Archer and rocking normal Archer saint graph, his mat entry would still list him as Grand Archer for hype effect.

I still don't get how Merlin being Grand Caster works. I guess the position has switched to him with Solomon gone, but his mat profile doesn't say that anywhere.

for all we know grand worthy doesnt mean they cant be summoned in normal class

I'm also a bit confused about Merlin being a Grand Caster, especially since he isn't even a legitimate servant. Since he never died, Merlin's spirit isn't in the Throne.
