It's hard to say, but even without stripping off her armor, Lancer Artoria looks more feminie than her saber and alter form. Must be the expressions, feeling more like a Queen than King, if you get me.

Also while the corrupted female knight aesthetic is good LAA just doesn't pull it off as well as Lancer Artoria works the female knight trait.

Because all that brings to my mind is a series of horrible thoughts of the Fate cast being all but pushed out of their own series by Nomura's collection of shallow and vapid self created Pet Bishounen and self insert Villain Sues, and of the company finding the only man in Japan who can keep a project stalled longer than Nasu.

I will not deny Nomura is an even worse offender (what kind of game takes a bloody decade guys?!) but it has some jewels (Amano and Tabata). Also, Shimomura OST...

I mean, I believe even Tsukuhime II will get to come out before Kingdom Hearts III does.

I harbor a very faint hope either will come out at some point.

And let's not even talk about what's been done to the Final Fantasy franchise. It's what anyone should brush on the face of anyone else arguing Type-Moon has 'whored out' Fate.

There are two variants of being whored out. Even if you disagree, some companies whore themselves in (those that become more niche) and others out (more mainstream) and FF is doing the later, trying for a western approach in order to rid themselves of the "Japanese media" stigma and become a household name. Arguably, Falcom had started this, as Ys wasn't horribly Japanese before. Back when they were PC reliant, they were rather good standard CRPGs. Now they've started to mimick Persona, and I find that distasteful (like Tokyo Xanadu).

Jokes aside, people like Nasu's work despite some misgiving parts, but you can't really say you love something without acknoweldging its flaws. FGO manage to roll around becasue people are willing to give Nasu some time, which he noted during an interview that the start of FGO actually almost used up their trust credits built through these years. Working with big company like Square Enix actually make it impossible for TM to voice their opinions and have their way, so getting a noob DW is one of the better choice, and roping Uncle Salt in was the turning point.

As for designs, there are hit and miss, some bad, some good but varitey is better than none and sometimes half-ass explaination for designs given like Irish body paint=tights etc. but we can go along with it, and the update which allow us to choose appearance in card and battle solve some issues like bad ascension 3 look as well.

Square Enix seems to be hit or miss. Doing anything with them will either make Nasu a household name like FF or ruin the company. At some point it will happen though. I don't recall fanservice reliant companies surviving for long on their own.

Yes, Nasu will inevitably have to expand beyond "anime" or otherwise become "one of the many".

Anyways, I still like some designs. I find that the more "artsy" a design is, the more I enjoy it. On the other side, the raunchier, the more I start wondering why it happened. Namely because characters seem clearly costumed. They don't seem like they are wearing something that should protect them. A Berserker like Hercules doesn't need protection and some mages do not but I will still hold that Lancer Artoria in ascended mode is a travesty that shouldn't see the light of the day.

This is... I cannot say... I genuinely cannot say Sparta. It doesn't make any sense...

But I disagree with some things. I am not endorsing censoring of content, but when you release a game for many people you choose a demographic, and sometimes choosing one limits a developer to fans of the series. FFXV had a disclaimer saying the game was "A FF game for fans and first timers". FGO cannot tout this as it's clearly aimed at fans. It's that sort of thing.

Hey, I am no longer criticizing stuff (beyond what I am entitled to because of what I think). I am only saying that the game will certainly remain niche, at least for now, when commenting on what big developers might have done to help the brand or sink it. Depends on what happens really.

No, I am no longer asking anyone to hate the designs, so I am not acting on bad faith (but I think I am going off topic).
