Ultimately, I must agree. Apocrypha was a hot mess, and Sieg was far from the only ingredient.
The thing about Apocrypha is that, maybe excepting Kairi and Mordred, every single character in it was unidimensional and extremely bland. There's very little that can be rescued of them except perhaps one moment or two for each. And that's already giving them too much credit.
I absolutely loathe cardboard-kun. I think he's a self-insert bait gary stu of the highest order, and even for light novel MC standards he's almost offensively lacking in any sort of personality whatsoever. I can see how the blank slate idea that was tried with him could've perhaps been made into something interesting, but the execution was ass and it just... didn't really belong in the concept that Apocrypha set out in the first place.
But really, everything about Apocrypha can be qualified as offensively bland. We're talking about a short LN series that proceeds to repeat the very exact same plot point about five times (SERVANT X HAS GONE INSANE, EVERYONE TEAM UP TO KILL HIM/HER). Every damn character on it is so flavorless one wonders if it wasn't done on purpose. Hell, way too many people overhype and overrate Astolfo, and he's basically generic trap personality #375735832 with nothing about him that'd differentiate him from all the other anime traps.
Why, yes, Apocrypha is what annoys me in TM.

Fast rule I use in regards to Apo: If anyone calls Sieg 'cardboard-kun' I immediately stop listening to what they have to say, because I could recite the rest of their argument by heart at this point.

Also it's a dumb nickname almost exclusively used by people who think they're being witty and original and I usually end up wanting to beat such people to death with the collective works of Oscar Wilde within about a nanosecond after speaking to them.
Pile the hate on me all you like, but the amount of hatred Sakura gets for [insert reason here] is grating to me. I mean, it's just...it's fucking annoying, okay? If you wanna hate somebody, hate that waste of a sperm called Shinji, it's not like he doesn't deserve it.
