KnK just feels like Nasu vomiting some introductory philosophy textbooks, specifically the Existentialism sections. It frankly annoyed me. I can say I only ever watched the movies for fan cred, lore tidbits, and the awesome music. That also might be the reason I read the novels after I learn Japanese, which WILL happen at some point.

As much flack as KnK gets for armchair philosophy, I always found that its concepts work not because of their being particularly well written but because of the presentation. I can't really speak for the novels, seeing as I've only read coke no kyoukai, but even then I think that what I enjoy out of KnK doesn't come across outside of the films, the majority of which are examples of excellent filmmaking. It's why I'm so appreciative of the first movie in particular, there's nothing like it out there. I care a lot more about film than I do about literature, which is why the Kara no Kyoukai movies are by far my favorite TM works. I had high hopes for Shaft's Last Encore, and a couple episodes were very satisfying, but for the most part I was kinda let down. I'd love a 30+ episode adaptation of CCC by them, but I don't have much hope for it happening. Part of why I'd like Tsukihime (yes i know tsukihime never xd) to be adapted as moviess is because there's a lot that TV anime just won't do cinematographically and Tsukihime in particular would greatly benefit from a competent film adaptation.

The movies definitely elevated the content. If only the Oblivion Recorder actually used the original content, it would have been cool...

6 isn't great, but its shot comp is so fucking pretty that I can't be bothered whenever I rewatch it. It's the easiest and least demanding viewing (though I still prefer 1 for casual rewatching) while not being altogether exceptional, but I definitely find it cool.

6's OST is also absolutely glorious, and music is my main point of interest since I am a somewhat of a musician. I just wish they had used the novel's plot for this one and made Kurogiri the center stage.

It's for completely shallow reasons, but the only KnK movie I rewatch somewhat regularly is Paradox Spiral.

Is it for the Araya fight? I'd rewatch for that. Also, I think I would like to rewatch 7 and 3, 7 because it was a rather well-directed film, made the most sense, and had the most emotional gut-punches, and 3 because of the Asagami fight.

Not just the Araya fight, though that's a huge part of it. I also really like the Enjou plotline.

    That's not shallow.

I mean, his plotline is what makes the movie good, I would find it weirder if anyone rewatched the movie while not caring for it.

While Paradox Spiral remains categorically the better movie, I still have a soft spot for Remaining Sense of Pain solely because of that final bridge battle scene.

I don't really care for the sudden cosmic horror introduced like last year where the universe doesn't hold enough energy so it just prune timelines considered 2bed or 2gudto advance.
I appreciate that it allowed the to finally show a typical utopia that the main characters of their work constantly fight against, but I thought the threath of the utopia is good enough to sell the stakes.
Do you really need a "BTW if Amakusa/Goetia wins the entire timeline will also be erased after a while"

I watch KnK for Shiki's knife action and Touko's sexy aura.

I mean... If Goetia won nothing would be deleted, he was going to change things starting from the beginning after all.
It's less to make these conflicts more threatening and more to introduce new, different conflicts into the story, I believe.
