My argument is that GoldenEye is the best Bond movie you can make that's entirely by the numbers; but in that sense it also tends towards being rather boring. And Boromir is who saves it from being entirely enjoyably mediocre.
And the Bond/Elektra relationship is like the third most emotional relationship Bond ever had, which helps.

I rewatched Tomorrow Never Dies recently as it was among my favorite movies as a kid, but spent the entirety of the movie distracted by the fact that when they were done arguing with each other over combat procedure, M and the admiral went home to a sitcom since As Time Goes By was from that same period. I had to wonder what it was like for Brits that watched the movie at the time.
Oh how I miss the days when shiny cars and lots of guns and Lois Lane's naked back were fulfilling.
