Thread: Fate/Extella Story and Lore (free range spoilers)

Weird timeline. I can see deified natural phenomena that eventually acquired more elaborate definitions and identifications falling under a potential 3rd AoG, that being the one we usually think of, but I'd then want to think that the 2nd AoG lasted at least until Çatalhöyük to include the original Mother Goddess. And what would the 1st be - more abstract idealised forms that were given essence through worship like the Venus of Willendorf? And when did Ea even do the splits in such a timeline?

My guess is as follows: Altera's arrival marks the end of an era. What I think happened is the first AoG began, then was ended by Altera showing up. After that, the second AoG lasts for 14000 years. We know Altera's been defeated, so I think that probably happened at the end of the second AoG.

Since we know Altera apparently fought Artemis in the past, if the previous assumptions are true, the Greek pantheon must have existed since at least the second AoG. That's a start, at least.

Alternatively we could throw reason to the wind and go with wild theories. Mine is inspired by Turn-A Gundam. Basically, every Age of the Gods is followed by an Age of Man, which ends when they leave for the stars, becoming "aliens." The first civilization building the Moon Cell, the second the Void Cell. Or the other way around, I guess.

The last time it came, it was during the Paleo time which happened to be the beginning of the 2nd AOG.

    So something like

14000 BC, Late Paleolithic Era, dawn of 2nd AoG (we don't know what could have made the 1st AoG end; going by all this shit maybe 1st AoG gods were Ancient Aliens) Altera simul-invades MC (we don't care) and Earth in the Giant form, wrecks stuff but gets beamu'd by Caveman Seiba (how can "Holy" even be an attribute back then???), inside the corpse sleeps tiny pilot Altera, [no indication as to when the 2nd AoG ended, if it's the one we know, or if there was a 3rd one], Gilgamesh apparently meets the Giant Altera corpse (or the tiny Altera???) in 2700 BC and forms some contract with her (according to this; accurate?), then Age of Man rolls around and we don't care.

Still, I asked about 14k years ago because I don't know when Extella is set. If it's in the DEEP SPACE FUTURE then 14k years ago relative to that could be earlier in the BCE.

derp, later. But it'd still have to be before the end of the Pleistocene, so it doesn't matter I guess.

Do we even have an approximate time frame of when this battle would have been? I mean, it can't be 14,000 years ago (assuming living wielder rather than Counter Guardian) if Gilgamesh wasn't around until 3000 BC or so. Unless Gilgamesh isn't the oldest hero anymore.

It's not like we didn't know there were people before Gil, it's just that Gil is the first instance of a "hero" recorded into tradition.

I assume there were plenty of unrecorded saviors before then.

I suppose. Just seems odd that slaying an alien that wants to destroy civilization isn't enough to be recorded as a hero (assuming Gil's definition of first hero is that he's the first recorded in the Throne, and not just recorded in human history). So either that definition is wrong, or Counter Guardian. Or "don't think too hard about it."

maybe humanity just wasn't self aware enough back then to produce heroic spirits

    - - - Updated - - -

i assume we're going to learn why gilgamesh is the first hero in december.

Could be that Moon Cell was refreshing like Archimedes said it does every time after aliens come around to nearly wipe civiisation out, and by the time it began recording again Caveman Seiba was gone. Although it's my headcanon that Gil being the first Heroic Spirit is tied to him starring in the earliest surviving Epic, and his story being recorded in that fashion blazing the path for what a "hero" is.

Yeah maybe in some very very distant (hamming distance) worldline Gil's not the first hero because there's even older records that managed to survive.
