In term of writing in general I would say better in certain parts. However because the story is very short I can't say that it's miles better than Extella due to Extella being the major set up game for this. It's like comparing the quality of a FGO event to the entire part 1 story of FGO. I do like the fact that they gave some characters good moments and held back the focus on the main heroines to explore Charles and Karl. For example Nero basically acting as a moral support for the most part, Tamamo uses her NP multiple times for support not just in story but also in stages and also act as a lore exposition character. Altera had a pretty good arc with Karl and Charles, explaining their relationship and their motives. There are characters who are very poorly utilized and that is to be expected for such a huge cast.
Overall, if you just want to play an improved Extella for the musou, you might say that this is better. As for the story, it's decent and feels like a FGO event, so if you're expecting crazy deep stories and so on you're not gonna get it.

I wonder, how much of Link will they keep for Extella 2? There has been many good things here, the hub, the My Room, and stuff ascciated with that. But at the same token I do wish we had side stories like in the last game as that would have been a more central focus for the characters.
Also I gather when they do Extella 2 they are taking the new Servants from Link as well? Going by the ending of the third route both Karl and Charles seems like there gonna reappear so it makes sense for the others as well. It sure will be a very big cast tho.

Well since Nasu said they're going back to "traditional RPG", I expect some sort of turn-based gameplay with focus on key characters and the other chars can be your team members. Hub and such would still be there as a team building menu.

I don't know. He was talking about it in regards to Link's minimal story, so I took that to him meaning that in regards to it's story. I could see them switching out of Musou gameplay, but then I also doubt it because this would be a legitimate sequal to Extella so it doesn't make sense they would do drastic changes to the gameplay. Not saying they can't, Link's heavy emphasis on it can give crendance they want to do new stuff but I don't know. I doubt we will know until much later anyhow.

It's a hope base on what he said in TM Ace 12, about balancing between story and gameplay in musou being a pain. They got quite some criticisms after Extella release and thus Extella Link focused more on gameplay instead of story. For the actual sequel they are considering options, so ppl hoping that they will drop the musou stuffs seeing that it is unfit for a large story.

They went from RPG (Extra and CCC) to musou in Extella and Link so they can change the gameplay system if they want to. The problem is picking the right system to go well with the story. Even fighting game format would be able to tell a better story than musou in my eyes.

If they're making an RPG for Extella 2 my only wish is for it to be a turn based RPG where you can freely use any of the Servants that has appeared so far into a party.

They fixed the mumei problem in Link by making him so ugly nobody wants him to be the focus anymore
If going back to RPG style means a return to the Extra style of gameplay, no thanks. Musou is boring but it's still way better than that fucking shit.
FGO problem is being a cellphone gacha game. Which is a worse ripoff than fucking DLC (Because with DLC, you get what you want. Gacha is legit gambling as you pay for a CHANCE to get what you want). So, as long as it's not on phones and doesn't have gacha, it would be better than FGO
