I have not played enough games this year.
I'll say Pokemon Sun and Moon since it's freshest in my head.
oh yeah and Frog Fractions 2 actually launched properly but I haven't gotten to play that either, alas
I honestly didn't get to do much gaming in 2016 so I can't honestly vote for anything. Overwatch is super fun, though.
<NEW FIC!> Revolution #9: Somewhere out there, there's a universe in which your mistakes and failures never happened, and all you wished for is true. How hard would you fight to make that real?
[11:20:46 AM] GlowStiks: lucina is supes attractive
[12:40] Lace: lucina is amazing
[12:40] Neir: lucina is pretty much flawless
Overwatch, #FE and Twilight Princess Remaster took the most of my time. Uncharted 4 was a fun week. GG:Xrd, Pokken and Street Fighter I enjoy despite being shit at them. Bravely Second, FE Fates, Pokemon Bondage, KoF 14, SMT Apocolypse and Rez I hear great things about and have fiddled with them but have less than an hour into any of them.
I guess I'd go for #FE if I had to choose, based on the amount of time I put in and how much fun I had doing so. It wasn't the best game I played this year *cough*TrailsOfColdSteel*cough*, it was my favourite that came out this year.
Binged All Of Gundam In 4 Years, 1 Week and All I Got Was This Stupid Mask
FF XIV: Walked to the End
Started Legend of the Galactic Heroes (14/07/23), pray for me.
I only played one 2016 game, Deus Ex MD, and it was disappointing
We've had to endure much, you and I, but within the week there will be old men running the world
OLD MEN ARE THE FUTURE
MD seemed like a real buzzkill yeah.
The typical stuff, not much to say other than great stuff I played this year:
Witcher B&W.
Overwatch.
Stardew (did that come out this year?)
DS3 & DLC.
Hyper Light Drifter. Play this one with a friend at one of your houses, people. The addition of a player who can screw you over makes it far more enjoyable.
DOOM.
Stuff with things to say:
Salt & Sanctuary. Started playing this about a week ago, haven't managed to either finish it or put it down. The Dark Souls (and a few other games) references are nice to see, but laid on a little thickly for my tastes.
Starbound. Reached its actual release phase this year. I thought I'd made a terrible decision buying during its early access phase, but I was proven wrong. Their initial development ideas read like the 2D version of No Man's Sky (literally exactly like it- procedurally generated planets, animals, beings, slightly different stuff everywhere you go, and a development cycle that went on for what seemed like bajillions of years), but then they toned that down, went with some more standardised models for animals and enemies and such, and then released, with a few updated even after their release. Surprisingly good game, for what it is.
Subnautica. The other Early access thing I bought into, just for the experience of having played a decent eat drink craft fight survival thing. Pretty disappointed, the bugs have killed the game for me, for the meantime, but I'm hopeful. Quest-critical area refuses to load no matter what I do, things almost critical to advance the game (and fulfill the whole "crafting & building" experience you were promised) are randomly scattered around the game world, which means you can swim around for hours and never find that one last piece of that one last blueprint for that one last building that'll make finding a load of other stuff bearable.
Will update as I remember more stuff.
FGO Supports
The story still seems like it would have been crap either way
Oh right, Hyper Light Drifter was good. I had fun with Rimworld too. With the blandification of AAA games these days, indie and doujin stuff is basically the only option left.
Known bland games such as Hitman and The Last Guardian

RimWorld isn't at 1.0 yet is it?
What 2016 games have I even played.
Furi, dark souls 3, overwatch. I swear I remember playing at least 5 but maybe not. Furi is probably my fav though.
Although FFXV is a sad game because it's merely pretty good as opposed to incredible.
The E3 2013 trailer is probably the best trailer I've seen for a game. Sad that so much had to be cut out in development hell.
Dont you dare bring the last guardian into this, it's about as AAA as Drakengard and you know it. Hitman being solid gameplay-wise doesn't excuse all that crappy monetization and always-online bullshit.
What crappy monetization? Also that game isn't always online. Don't just repeat random shit you read on /v/.
Also TLG is literally a first party Sony title, it is 100% AAA.
TLG is an art game with a budget because some higher-up at Sony likes Fumito Ueda. It's in no way similar to most mainstream titles. And hitman is sold in fucking EPISODES mate. They chopped it up and sell it to people piecemeal unless they buy some season pass combo pack. Not to mention that unless you're playing the online mode you only get the bare bones game without any of the bonus missions or content. Sure what's there is good, but the fluff around it isn't.
