Regarding anime, Apo might just be way better as anime than as LN just because it would cut down the crap out of it (because there is only so much air time) and highlight the great parts...
..If Higashide doesnt fuck it up. Because the more i think about it, the more Siegfried casually revealing his name in ep3 seems like a red flag to me.

Be fair to Gordes, I doubt that he ordered Siegfried to blow his true name.

That being said it reflects badly on Siegfried, who's normally pretty loyal. I guess the anime had him blow his no true name rule instead of the no speaking rule, but it's still really stupid, since wasn't Semi watching that fight with her doves?

It's a shame that the fight was so forgettable. Up until the fight i thought they did pretty well with Karna's entrance, Siegfried's backstory flashback, Jeanne showing off her Revelation skill, and the whole Gordes being stupid and trying to manipulate Jeanne.

It'll be even funnier if they keep the scene with Gordes blueballing Siegfried's NP in later on.

Though I guess it could be rewritten with Gordes assuming/realizing it wouldn't work on Achilles.

I dont know, Karna destroying more landscape than in Zero and UBW combined in span of 30 seconds of screentime and tossing Siegfried around while giving zero fucks and Siegfreid not dying to that shit is p impressive. Animation quality aside.

Also Gordes isnt really stupid in that instant. One would be reasonable to assume that judge would take action against someone who already tried to kill her. He is also being somewhat smart from a mage perspective like that. The only really stupid thing Gordes did was the CS moment, otherwise he behaves fairly reasonable.

I doubt it. So far, it seems it is more like a bad adaption rather than a story overhaul.

All Apocrypha really needs is some decently long fights of a substantial quality and it'll be fine with the anime crowd.

It's a lot lower on the unnecessary chatter which just drags out a scene without narrative context that ubw experiences.

Long as A-1 can maintain a decent animation quality, it's basically a sinch for em.

What I wonder is what is going through Higashide's head when he decided to have Siegfried speak his true name to Karna when he apparently didn't make that mistake in the LN. Why did he decide to change that for the anime?

That's pretty par of the course for Karna though. They took a lot from America's CM. He didn't even use Prana Burst Flame or any of his fancy NP yet.

I don't like the fight first and foremost because it took a lot of things away from the LN. From revealing how Siegfried's Armor works, to how he is surprised that Karna can even hurt him, to both of them hitting each other for a long while before actually decide to stop. The entire fight in anime just feel like they want to make a short preview/trailer for Sieg vs Karna later, which sucks.

I never said Gordes was stupid. He's a pretty smart guy who came up with the whole homunculus being batteries after all. His problem has always been pride.

No matter how the change of Siegfried's name reveal will reflect in future events, it doesn't change the fact that it's still stupid. He pretty much told an opponent he just met his biggest weakness. Unless it's revealed in the future that Sieg just said fuck everything and wanted to die, there's no logical justification for this.

While I agree that having Siegfried name himself is a questionable decision, I would atleast wait for next episode to see if they address it.

Who knows, maybe it will lead to some "nice" interactions between Gordes and Siegfried.

Servant intro for Black team is actually somewhat ruined in the anime. They show later that Darnic knows all the servants (naturally), but in the anime it seems like Gordes takes initiative in not revealing the Siegfried's name to everyone and Darnic just lets him do it while in LN Gordes even hides the catalyst and the dialogue drives the point home about how Gordes thinks its THIS IMPORTANT to conceal his servant's identity. He is really just being competent master most of the time. In the anime they just portray him as an ass.
