I think they'd be the most basic level of familiar you can make out of just pure mana or somesuch. That, or they were a reference.

Watched the final episode this afternoon. Pretty emotionally satisfying all around. The fight against Amakusa turned out a little anticlimactic in retrospect though. Didn't he pull out meteors and other fancy magical attacks for the final battle in the LN? Also, would anyone else watch an OVA just about Astolfo's (and possibly Laeticia's) adventures playing hero around the world? Because I think that'd be awesome.
Seems kind of a waste that Shakespeare's last play just blew away in the wind rather then being read by anyone. A play written by the great William Shakespeare in the modern day would surely be a treasure if anyone managed to find it. Actually, that makes me think of a funny twist where a certain "Yuichiro Higashide" manages to recover the manuscript after it blew away and, mistaking it for fiction, published it as a novel. Too meta?

Fair enough. There's a reason Achilles vs Chiron was one of my favorite fights of the show. I was just curious how the fight went down in the LN, since I'd heard some stuff that didn't seem to make it into the anime.
