I don't even like the between Kirei and Shirou in Heaven's Feel as much as most people do.
Spoiler:
Fate/Apocrypha has taught me two important things:
1) Gender is a confusing issue in the Fate universe (and in the real world as of late)
2) Astolfo is best girl...I mean guy...I mean trap!
So, how did Amakusa manage to negate the first Command Seal Kairi used to boost Mordred against Semiramis?
At the time I thought it was due to his God's Resolution, but his profile mentions that Skill was sealed due to not being the Ruler of the current Grail War. So what gives?

I'd have to look back at the fight for details, but I'm sure I remember Kairi trying to use a Command Seal early on in the fight, only for it to mysteriously not work.
At the time I assumed that was Amakusa's interference. Not I'm not so sure.

Oh, thanks. I must've totally misunderstood that scene somehow.
Semi implied that Amakusa played some role in negating the command seal.

Just realized that Amakusa's line before the final battle about hoping Sieg and Jeanne will be the last people in the world to have to die is a cool callback to Kiritsugu's line to Saber in Zero about hoping the blood he shed in Fuyuki will be the last in the world. Not sure if everyone already got that, but I just thought it was nifty.
both are so desperate to save the world

Watching the anime again. Just for the fun of it. And it's fun. It doesn't disappoint.
I found it more hilarious that the two people deciding the fate of humanity were a dead guy and an artificial human who had the powers of a dead hero and monster.
And the one batting for humanity was the one who wasn't human at all.
“Yet the burden shall be shared by two entwined, from which the sword will part from the body and be bestowed upon the vassal to sacrifice themselves and cleave through space and time.”
“Mark upon this unworthy flesh the emblem of the sacrifice, the vassal whose death shall bring forth victory through the fields of steel and blood!”
“The oath is laid here. We are the ones who represent all the good within the pure lands, and we are the ones who judge what is evil within the pure lands. Thou, Seven Heavens clad in three mere words of unequal power, shall emerge from the spiral of control, O keeper of the balance—!”
I figure that was kind of the point.

Hence why I like Sieg as a concept, even if the execution leaves something to be desired.
What is a human but a miserable pile of secrets?
Indeed. Nothing is perfect. Sieg's far from perfect as well. But that imperfection is what made me like him.Hence why I like Sieg as a concept, even if the execution leaves something to be desired.
Honestly, more than anything else, Apocrypha's biggest failing in my book is its bland prose.
