Like simone is a decent boss fight that turns into an annoyingly positioned add fight and then into a boss + add fight

koshi + roshi starts out as a boss fight in the most important location of nier 1

Then turns switches to a fight against the shmup mechs

Then into an elevator fight

Then shmup level

Then elevator mob rush

Then bounces between shmup and elevator fight with ddcreasing time with each mc until culminating in the top of the tower where you're literally switching characters mid strike.

Simone can't touch that.

Because it doesn't really feel like a fight before, the shmup and the stupid elevator parts aren't amazing. The impressive part was the combined bots fighting the two androids at once.

Huh. To me, the constant switching and mob-smash intermissions were bad. Yes, it was cool when they came together at the end of the fight, but the preceding 10 minutes was an annoying stream of interruptions.

I never understood that.

The switches weren't time based or random. It was clear exactly when each was happening save some of the shmup sections since the switch condition was "destroy these bots/do this much damage."

The abrupt switch only happened at the end. Which I consider the worst part of the fight largely cause A2 is useless at the beginning of it, but you have to wait a needless amount of time before getting 9s to take off the lightning armor.

In comparison the elevator/shmup was faster, more straight forward and far more dynamic

It wasn't that they were random, it was that they were arbitrary. They interrupt the flow. Why wouldn't they just let me finish the fight? Well, because they had a big reunion fight planned out, of course, not that the player knew that.

The only bosses I didn't like were doing the Kaiju the second time and that weird ball centipede in the desert.

The ball centipede was pure random insanity, and not in a good way. If you're on the one-hit-death difficulty, it's officially the worst. Laser shot by a guy on the other side of the arena, through two of its teammates, impossible to see coming because you were up close hitting another guy and they fill your entire screen.

i'm sure there is a comfy range strat to deal with Hegen for very hard difficulty

I only discovered last night that the Weapon Stories on 2B and 9S heavy swords are referring to each other and I'm ;w;

I never saw them when I actually played because I never levelled up the large swords.

I'm feeling kinda conflicted about posting here. Necro'ing the thead and all.

Way too late for the party, but this game was literally the reason I bought a PS4. Finished it last week.

The elevator fight was really cool at first but it ended up overstaying its welcome. Initially I was pretty pumped but then it went on and on and on. The Roshi segments were particularly painful.

Though I do agree that Simone's fight is inferior, she doesn't nag you for too long and she has a pretty kickass OST, even by this game's standards.

Don't really have a favorite boss though. Maybe Adam in the Copied City but even then... I do have favorite segments tho, escaping the Factory with 2B (ie the Kami ni Naru sequence) and the entire opening sequence of Route C were fucking rad.

The Dragoon Lance isn't confirmed to be Inuart's. In fact from the story it doesn't seem to be the case even remotely.
