Wasn't that basically the plot of part 8? Other than the snow effects it was basically a 30 minute convo between Mikiya and God-Shiki about existence.

You'll notice that it was not a movie people sat in a theater for, but an extra with the BDs.

It was just to point out that there's a reason nobody refutes what Shiki says about Araya's apartment. There's plenty in the novel of Araya sitting there and explaining everything, but eventually an audience member is going to go, "He's the bad guy, she's the good guy, why doesn't she just stab him now?"

Of course that's because general audiences don't have taste and do not understand the yuetsu of George narration.

I must confess that I never really saw Misaya Ouji as a "Villain" per se, more of a victim of circumstance.

Though even so, I still remain unchanged on my vote.

Maybe bringing the legal system into it isn't a great idea because I think the courts might get confused by the keeping everybody's brains alive in jars and resurrecting them in new bodies every day aspect of the case, and arresting Araya would probably be hard.

I'm no lawyer but looks like a clear case of deprived-heart murder, determinism or not.

The one who made this poll got it actually fundamentally wrong.

For me, a villain is the one who actually inflicts suffering on the protagonist and can last for a very, very long time.

So I can say that the best and worst villain in this franchise is the clan of Ryougi.

They are both best and worst in that they encased the Origin of Shiki in a personality instead of the origin being the basis of the personalities of Shiki.

They're the best since they had actually succeeded in doing it, and the worst since they just unleashed an unknown factor and doesn't even know anything about it. They even thought it was all just for the purpose of making Shiki complete.

Instead it backfired on them, making the Origin personality practically a goddess.
