    Quest of Fate - Apocrypha Universe Grail War

    The Holy Grail War, also known as Heaven's Feel. A ritual that has been going on for hundreds of years. At the climax of the Third Grail War of Fuyuki, one of it's participants managed to steal the Greater Grail. However in it's wake, knowledge regarding the construction of the ritual was leaked to magi around the world.

    Now, Holy Grail Wars are happening all over the world albeit smaller and imperfect and somehow they've made their way to you. The days are long, the nights are filled with death. But the ultimate prize that is the omnipotent wish granting device awaits you.

    "Member of a family of only four-or-so generations including myself. I'm... average in nature in everything considered from power to talent and knowledge. What's worse, my siblings and cousins are notably weaker than you and their parents, the family lineage is already starting its decline.
    Those snotty blue bloods look down on me and insult me for daring to believe I can make life better for myself and my family. But they underestimate me, they'll never see me coming. Not on the same level as old family aristocrats, I make up for my 'inadequacy' as they put it with a level of fierceness and tenacity those with a silver spoon in their mouths lack."



    Abilities

    Seigi is fundamentally an Average mage in every sense of the term. Although not poor in any sense of the term, he is decidedly unremarkable. Aside from his elemental affinity of wind, he has studied he studied alchemy, spiritual evocation, summoning, divination, and spiritual healing. However it should be noted that school has been studied intensively and hasn't displayed natural talent in any art. Though he can perform in them all, he is no specialist and can be outclassed by one in each individual school. A jack of all trades, master on none but better than being a master of one. Right?

    Physically, he has shown himself to be somewhat adept in close range combat, appearing to employ traditional shotokan based karate. It is currently unknown where he received this training outside of basic self defence. It seems he took a extra classes in a dojo somewhere over the weekends at some point in his life. Though capable of making tactical discussions with himself in quick succession, he can be caught of guard and his plans are not exactly foolproof. Though he is capable of combating more powerful opponents, he seems to primarily work off of weaknesses he already knows of which can be exploited.

    His two greatest "Ace in the Holes" is combining Alchemy, Divination and his wind element to his Shotokan Karate.
    Wind is strongly aligned to flowing things. The element wind, in Humor theory also refers to blood or saugine. Therefore, while punching and blocking the opponent in hand to hand combat, he can perform structural analysis each time he clashes with another. Because his element is wind, it's easy to get a picture of the flow of blood within the body. Then using his experience in divination, to "read" the flow of that blood and figure out the opponent's next move etc.
    Furthermore Alchemy is defined as the recombination of matter into something else, incorporating the Magnum Opus into his formula
    He uses the first Hermatic tradition "Nigredo" to decompose without creation.

    Bio

    The second child of a seemingly prodigious magus family. Since early childhood she knew she would be overlooked in all matters, ignored and unwanted as there is only a second child in case a 'Spare' is needed if the eldest child perishes or is simply that incompetent. Apparently her elder sibling was neither of these things and it was clear she would never be taught in the family secrets. Burdened by her insatiable desire to learn, she decided she would have to start from scratch. She stole and sold everything she could from the household to pay for her tuition on enrolment in Clock Tower and leaving her old life behind. It is quite likely that Risa Mol-Undi is not even her real name.


    Abilities

    Due to coming from good 'Breeding Stock' so to speak, Risa possesses a high number of Magic Circuits and of very good quality. However for all extensive purposes, she will most likely never receive the Family Crest, so can essentially be considered to be an amateur that has started learning. However unlike most first generation apprentices, she is quite powerful.

    Seigi has never seen her perform magecraft but knows her to be incredibly studious, writing everything down in what appears to be a Mystic Code Tablet as whenever he gets near it, it seems to zap anyone that isn't Risa. It can be expected that he will come to know more of her abilities in time.

    Bio

    Seigi does not know much about his fathers life other than he has connections in the Department of Spiritual Evocation and the El-Melloi family. Throughout his son's life, he was absent emotionally and physically - being more of an authority figure than an actual parent. He was always more interested in improving the standing of the family than anything else and completely vanished from his son's life during his enrolment at Clock Tower till he returned to have him fight in a sub-catagory Holy Grail War on his behalf, taking another magi under his wing in the meantime.


    Abilities

    Despite only being a third generation mage, he possesses excellent talent compared to his peers and despite not possessing any spectacular powers, he is an exemplar mage. He has studied he studied alchemy, spiritual evocation, summoning, divination, and spiritual healing - teaching his son in each art as well though he does specialise in Spiritual Evocation. It is also implied he has ability in Spiritual Surgery but the true extent is unknown.

    In combat, he was shown to completely dominate the fight against his son Seigi with magecraft alone.

    Bio

    The only child of the Corvella Family. As an aristocrat, he had many things other mages lack and was born with a power that many magi spend their whole lives trying to attain.

    Reiner talks often about how wealthy and powerful his family is an as the ninth generation - once the family crest is fully converted it is expected that he will hold a level on power and society much like Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald did in his life. That said it is partially transfered.

    Seigi doesn't know anything else because he's tuned out Reiner's voice when he starts his monologues.


    Abilities

    As a ninth generation mage, Reiner is highly powerful and even though his training is not yet fully complete - he is at a level many Mages cannot attain. However the reason he has not fully matured is his arrogance being unbecoming. This resulted in him losing a duel against a mere fourth generation mage that he should have easily defeated.

    However once he matures and gains perspective alongside the family crest being fully transferred - he will he the elite of the elite.

    Bio

    Not much is known to Seigi about this enigmatic individual other than he fancies himself a dark "Hero of Justice".


    Abilities

    "Justice" has shown himself to be somewhat proficient with usage of the Gandr curse, able to fire off multiple rounds in quick succession. He has not yet performed a Finn Shot, capable of interacting with the physical world so it is currently unknown whether he is as talented as the likes of the Tohsaka family.

    He also has some melee weaponry, capable of throwing knives with great accuracy from a distance. Regarding physical combat, he has show usage of surprise attacks with an unexpected curse showing him as somewhat of a combat pragmatist but due to Seigi's unorthodox combat style he was caught unawares and overwhelmed. However only time will tell if the effects will replicated a second time.

    As Seigi 'Scanned' the flow of his body, he was noted to be very well sculpted with his muscles and had a "deep fire burning in" making his whole body feel hot.

    He has also demonstrated the ability to use Seigi's "Nigredo" and destroyed his arm from the inside out.

When holding onto a desk, spikes emerged when he was irritated. It is suspected that this is alchemy as creating matter from nothing is in the realm of True Magic, outside the realms of possibility of modern magi.

    Blood Cursing Techniques: The magecraft of this family has always revolved around curses, specifically revolving around blood. While the Charisk families’ forte has always been revolving around blood curses, Corrin’s speciality is cursing himself. By using his blood as an Arcane Focus, he can control and manipulate blood to a prehensile level. He is capable of using it in a multitude of ways such as creating physical constructs in the form of weaponry and pseudo limbs. He also has some limited biomancy as an extension of this combined with more traditional magecraft in the form of enhanced regeneration and physical reinforcement.

    The primary limitation of his magecraft is that it does not use his Magic Circuits alone but also drains his blood and physical vitality meaning that to constantly requires infusions of blood. If he goes too long without an infusion then he would deteriorate and may very well end up killing himself through exertion. As a result it is not uncommon for him to suck the remaining blood out of a target of his target.

You should actually be able to alter their parameters and skill level to a degree, however each improvement has an equal cost for the servant. You will have difficulty discerning who they are unless you have a specific catalyst and their mana upkeep will be difficult in tense and dangerous situations, especially if the servant is high tier or is simply that taxing.

    [ ] Spellcaster. Also called Hedge Mages in some groups. As an orphan, you never knew your parents and would have no idea that they were first generation Magi who simply mutated the possession of such circuits. Growing up alone for the most part, around puberty you realised you could do "things". Likewise, these "things" tend to happen when you're stressed or angry as well.
    You have no clue what a Holy Grail War even is, you don't even know what the Association, Magic Circuits, Command Seals or Servants even are! Still getting used to the idea of being able to do 'Magic' or whatever it is, you treat it as a tool. Your skill, knowledge and power is low though your are highly efficient in a single field of your choice.
    In a fight, you're more used to using your fists than shooting that weird glowy stuff out of your hands as it either doesn't do much or things tend to go wrong when you do. Because of your weakness, some of the big shots may overlook you entirely or seek you as a pawn All your servants parameters are reduced, mana upkeep is a constant struggle and using the Noble Phantasm is highly dangerous. You won't know the identity or class of your servant and and their is a possibility you won't be told - leaving you to deduce it for yourself.

    Take caution in whatever road you walk, for this War does not adhere to the typical rules. But one remains.

    Looks like there's overwhelming support for the Waver playthrough.

    Anybody got any ideas regarding names and/or fcs?

    I've attempted the classic "glance around at shit on your desk" for name inspiration, but since I'm currently a little sick, the only thing that springs to mind is some variation on "Ricola Kräuter-zucker."

    Pretty confident we can do better than that.

    Wait, how does this work exactly? Are we submitting multiple playable characters RP-style or voting to determine a single one? Are we writing up entire segments of the story or just our responses to events narrated by the GM? I'm definitely intrigued about participating, but it's a fairly big commitment depending on how much writing is involved (especially since I'm struggling with inspiration even for my original fiction story).

    If you're unfamiliar with Quest style RP's I recommend you take a look at Janx's sig as she's done a few. Should give you a good feel for them.

    Basically it functions like choose your own adventure book thingy. At the end of each segment, the writer posts some choices the players (aka you guys) vote amount yourselves for the character to do with the story following the choice made.

    I am familiar with what a Quest is, actually. I was just confused since from first skimming the introduction, I got the impression this was an RP for some reason... Now that's settled, I probably will be participating. Thanks!

    I'll submit Phoenix Cordillera, a name I thought up back when I was a kid who first become enamored with the concept of Awesome Names™. Faceclaim pending, but expect something suitably hot-blooded...

    Also, given it's a Grail War setup I wonder how Servant summoning will work? Will we submit our own Servants or pick them from some pre-allotted list? And if the latter, will that list be from canon or of Hermes' own devising?
