Just bond 5'd Karna, so between his profile here, Apoc and Extella I want to think I got a handle on his character.
...I can't say I dislike him, but I just can't fathom why anyone likes him either, except based on his looks. He's doggishly loyal, he's a good boi and... that's it. He just doesn't really have any character traits other than "super nice guy". In fact, the "nice guy but always stuck apologetically having to kick your ass due to loyalty" motif that keeps cropping up with him is his most defining trait.
Also, from his Interlude blurb:
" While impossible, if you forged a contract with him and still can't win, then either you are not fit for combat or have trouble handling elites". Stick that fork in deeper why don'tcha.

the vlad and and lancelots are spooks. had him at np2 and he spooked me again so vlad is np3 now, lancelot spooked me in my ticket rolls once and again while I was 10 rolling. tristan spooked me twice in my ticket rolls and gawain and mamaturia came with 5 tickets. the ten roll was a yolo for np5 tristan, when the gacha gods said fuck it and let me have my way, with a lancelot as a bonus

A lot of Heroic Spirits are genuinely nice people. Fergus is a nice guy. Touta is a nice guy. Kinbroki has a heart of gold (to go with everything else, heh). My problem with Karna is that he's a really nice robot.
Like, remember the whole thing about Artoria being such an ideal ruler that people just couldn't love her because she didn't feel human? Karna is the perfect example of that. He fundamentally lacks flaws, at least as far as I can see.
I'm curious if his CCC portrayal is better, Extra's characters were almost to a man excellently written.

Although conversing with him may give the impression that he is indecisive and somewhat boring, in reality he is always deep in thought and has a loyal heart.The difference with Artoria I'd say is that she was clearly degrading herself by putting her emotions aside in favor of becoming a ruler while Karna has no such issues comparable in the first place cuz he's literally touched in the head in a way that it's his natural way of being to lack those kind of feelings. He's particularly loyal to a fault though it usual works out since he seems to lack direction on what he wants to do until he's found someone to devote himself to or obey his personal obligations he's sworn to follow. If nothing else besides that, he'll completely obliterate anything that's not on his side regardless of morals. IIRC in CCC there's a point where Jinako's in a poor state of mind and basically wants to die, and Karna blindly follows her will and would've jeopardized the situation if Hakuno wasn't strong enough to stop him.He gives an impression of being cold and cruel because he believes that most things and events are “normal”, and therefore he does not interfere. Due to this characteristic, he does not really have negative emotions such as hatred and jealousy. Because his behaviors target people’s “true nature that should not be put to words”, he is disliked by many.Karna sees through all of those things and frankly states "the true nature that his opponent wants to hide." As a result, he comes to be hated by the majority of his opponents and is forced to fight them. Anyone would hate having their faults being spoken of.
