I don't think there is a need for her to actually be Daji. Remember that in the Japanese version of the story, Tamamo possessed Daji - a normal girl. So her denying to actually be Daji makes sense. Amaterasu pretty much confirmed your "single being that appeared throughout history" by saying that Tamamo destroyed many country. Tamamo also slipped a line about making Hakuno as happy as King Zhou when she was trying to rape him/her in Extella. The whole "no no I'm not Daji" in Extra is just one of the attempts to hide her past in China and India to me, and also due to the fact that she hates her past self alot.

No, the Beast of Regret will be the combined forces of all the players who whaled for their waifus/husbandos but went broke before getting them, so they decided to destroy FGO in vengeance.
Than why the backstory on her suddenly getting jackal ears and tail in her life? I mean it could be her lying but thats a pretty blatant retcon.
I mean reincarnation in nasu isn't the 'oh I lose memories and maybe become a squirrel when I die' but more of the 'Oh my soul is being grinded into dust and the dust is reused in another soul' I mean I would be a bit peeved personally if they make tamamo full on evil playing the myth straight while changing the nero backstory, I know some historians question whether the sources IRL were actually accurate or just demonizing him.
