    Monthly Make-A-Magus Contest

Welcome to the thread for the attempted "Monthly Make-A-Magus competition."
As a sort of extension of the Create-A-Magus thread. Forumites are given a prompt and have 3 weeks to create a magus.
Each forumite is also limited to 2 entries for each contest. Definitely go for quality over quantity.
At the end of 3 weeks submissions stop and voting begins.
Anyone on this forum can vote. However each forumite is limited to 3 votes.

Voting will work by bestowing 3 magi with
    3 points = 1st place
    2 points = 2nd place
    1 point = 3rd place
Anyone on the forum is able to vote.
Also it might be nice to give a reason for your votes.
Winner gets the most points and also gets to decide the next prompt.

So this is the template I just finished making. It was made mostly by looking at what people put out on the Create-A-Magus thread as categories and then consolidating it. If you have your own template and want to use that, that's fine. But I think this covers most bases.

ok so for the sake of discussion and potential brainstorming where is stuff from the wiki even coming from

Kalion Observatory, the Secret Judgment Division (秘儀裁示局・天文台カリオン, ?) took place in the oldest classroom of the Clock Tower. They decide on the Sealing Designation and also the procedure of revocations. At the end of the 20th century, they delivered an incredible shock to the entire Clock Tower as multiple sealing designations were revoked.[6]

The actions of those who are designated can be divided into two paths: Hermit (隠者, inja?) and Philosopher (賢者, kenja?). Hermits become degraded magi after secluding themselves from the world, transmitting their knowledge only to their successor. Unless they have a truly extraordinary work, they are normally left alone by the Association because they are not an immediate threat, instead only kept under surveillance while keeping an interest in their research. Philosophers are those great magi striving to reach new heights, becoming menaces that abandon all codes of conduct to continue their research without being bothered. Acting without restraint unlike normal magi, they are able to obtain greater results in a shorter period of time. They may victimize a number of innocent people in their pursuit, possibly making magecraft known to the world should they be too careless.

    Circuit Composition: Homogeneity

Character: A mature Big Sis type with an almost doting nature. Nevertheless she will not hold back when she feels the need to rebuke a child. While not possessing much talent for it, she has a proclivity for healing with helps with her 'do no (lasting) harm' policy towards the mundane.

Good evening child, would you like to hear a epic of kings and knights? Or perhaps an tale of explorers? Whatever your tastes, I'm sure that I have something to inspire you."

Biography: What could cause the fall of such a millennia long line that shifted with the ages from Druid to Minstrel to Author? Many theories were proposed but the simplest kept climbing to the forefront. That the age when legends and tales could be born had finally past them by and any that thought about it too deeply would soon start to question the future of their own lineage. Or course those who knew of the last magi born to that clan, grieved even more as her capabilities were truly the pinnacle of their art. That she would become a
    Grand
    top-class magus
recognized even among the Clocktower's long history was a testament to the work of the Harkions.

As an instructor in the domains of Anthropology and Archaeology, Minaral Harkion impressed many though she rejected to use the capital earned there to become a political player. Until she was fifty, that was the life she led as a magi but as she could not acquire a heir to carry on her task, she accepted that change was required. So it was that one night, she kissed her normal children good night, spent a last night with the man she had loved for thirty years and finally attempted the greatest working her line had ever devised.

And as she did so, the Clocktower sent their forces to quietly put an end to the matter. Not out of outrage as they accepted that even one so respected would naturally become desperate at facing the end of their line, but out of mercy so that she would not disgrace her line in hopes of prolonging it. They came armed with the ability to end a Grand, even a Grand that would become what so many magi had resorted to in order to extend their life.

"What nasty tools you brought into my workshop, where did you even acquire such an aged Gu poison? But don't worry, since no lasting harm was done, I'll treat you kindly."

    They came prepared to face
    Vampire
    the Dead
, but what they found was
    Vampire
    Fear
. And as Harkion left England and broken enforcers behind her, they learned from studying the remains of her workshop just what she had done and how heavily they underestimated her pride as a
    Harkion
    Magus
    .

Following this incident, all records from her workshop were confiscated on order of the Faculty of Law and a sealing designation was immediately placed on what was hoped to be a irreproducible case.

They were ones that sang the glories of human history to the world and called those shining emissaries of the throne into themselves. To become an existence that rejected human history was a true heresy that would be inconceivable for any Harkion.

"Become a Dead Apostle? Don't be ridiculous. Even when falling to the depths of Tartarus there are somethings that must never be done. As a Magus.....As a Harkion....it would have been less insulting to tear out my crest and spit on it."

That her magecraft would not continue through her children was saddening, but Minaral had decades to come to terms with that well as consider that even if humanity had neglected to uplift more souls in legend, and even if that neglect had reflected itself on her family's fortune, legends and those who channeled them were still needed.

So she could not allow her family's magecraft to end within a human lifespan, not until she had determined that humanity had truly exceeded the need for heroes.

Rather than become a existence that hide in the shadows of human history, she would be a heir to that which lives in their recorded fear. The existence that spread world-wide in the shape of a hundred year old mystery known as Dracula.

"Ahh, such a troublesome existence this has become. Well, I'll try not to be too much of a bother to those
    Innocents
    humans
that have enough to deal with."

    Magecraft Related Abilities:

    Channeling
    Spiritual Evocation
    :
    The calling of
    Heroic Spirits
    Legendary Souls
and allowing oneself to be possess in order to temporary gain their attributes. It is said that there are those who took this art to such a level that they were even said to be able to momentarily realize these legends as something akin to
    Pseudo-Servants
    quasi-embodiments
    .

    Heir of the Vampire

    Copil De Dracul
: The grand ritual that she devised, a heresy that was her last act as a human. The aim of her family was to extol those that defended the Human Order, even if it was not a bright and shining Proper Hero.....no, even if it could not be called a hero at all. As long as that Spirit was one that would fight for humanity, even while cursing it's very existence, then that would be fine. And so the monstrous aspect of that Legendary Soul can be called upon and it's unique ability to propagate itself extracted. Only for a moment would that be allowed but even as the soul quickly returns to it's throne, it can be enough for a heir to be left in the World.

    Literary
    Vampire
    Physiology
: There exists notable differences between the form that Hartion has taken and the common Dead Apostle. Both possess weakness to sunlight and holy items but the Literary Vampire possess greater healing ability at night that can only be surpassed by a Dead Apostle in the light of the Moon. Other unique if less dire vulnerabilities are wild roses and garlic as well as the need to require permission to enter premises. And while the Literary does still require blood to function and indeed possess a greater lust than a dead apostle at the sight of blood, their bodies do not degenerate as Apostle do but instead age and become prone to death-sleeps that render them vulnerable to attacks.

The Literary also naturally possess abilities such as shapeshifting and eyes of enchantment as well as a weak level of Madness that can be negated with mental adjustment. But these abilities are things that could be found in any number of monstrous species or replicable with magecraft and so are of little value to research.

The theorized attribute that makes this Bloodsucker worthy of a Sealing Designation lies in it's nature as part of human history. With a level of
    Fear
    Fame
that can turn a average heroic spirit into a a threat to the highest, mixing the human history empowered trait of vampire with magecraft can not only strengthen the foundation of one's magecraft with it's fame but also allow a foundation to be maintained worldwide according to the principles previously explored by Theosophy.

If confirmed, then it would be a revolution to Modern Magecraft surpassing the use of Angels.

    "Dealing with those dogged
    Magi
    academics
    and exasperating '
    Apostles
    nobles
' is truly tiresome, but tough trials always birth worthwhile tales."

Creator Remarks: I've always wanted to do something about Dead Apostles type Vampires and the Literary type that Vlad embodied. And Sealing Designations are the perfect thing to do something crazy with.

    Magic Circuits
    Circuit Quantity: B+ (37)
    Circuit Quality: A
    Circuit Composition: Lattice

    Character:
A martial arts master, she is indifferent to concepts like morality. She understands how actions can be good and bad but bases everything around her; if one offends her rationality then they will be punished with crushed bones and organs. Emotionally volatile, she's very expressive with every emotion. If she's happy, you know it. If she's angry, you know it.
Seeking not just strength but enlightenment, her strength comes from her conviction and devotion to becoming a part of something greater. Due to her disposition thanks to her magecraft, she is always seeking something to focus on whether it is her craft, a tv show or a crossword puzzle. Always seeking something to devote herself to, something to save herself from boredom. In battle, she's prideful, energetic and serious, anything to improve her Bajiquan and get closer to the root.

    Biography:

Guan-yin is a Magus who holds the rank of "Pride: Law" and the title of "Red" within Clock Tower. As is customary for her family, she was born in the foundation of their power and magecraft before returning to the west as a teenager.
Her family's art was combining Magecraft alongside the Chinese martial art known as Bajiquan - the goal being to attain a level of nothingness & enlightenment, transcend and thus reach The Root. Guan-yin has spent her whole life devoted to the rationality, as has her family. However, she has attained a level that no other in her lineage can compare to. Her natural capacity for the art makes her a true prodigy to the degree that all those around her were utterly terrified of her inhuman ability. She is in all likelihood the most talented practitioner alive.
Whilst working on a technique that she believed would allow her to achieve their pinnacle art of ascension, Guan-yin was given a Sealing Designation and prevented from ever completing the form. She has since been on the run due to Guan-yin being less-than-subtle, but now lacks the time to actively practise. Now what she'd want most is to strike a deal of sorts.

    Magecraft Related Abilities:

    Bajiquan:

A Chinese martial art that features explosive, short-range power and is famous for its elbow and shoulder strikes. It is an ultimate technique born from the miraculous fusion of Bajiquan and magecraft, having become an Internal Art that transcends the External Art. Hers is unique to her for her lack of self-preservation allows her to destroy a target in the shortest amount of time comfortably, as the can battle knowing that no one can touch her.
Though her hands appear to be her main weapon, her entire body is for as long as a single foot is on the ground, she can twist and contort her whole being to release an instantaneous burst of energy to escape her predicament. Her body is durable enough to resist blades and small arms fire (dealing more damage internally than externally) while her physical strength is enough uproot a tree with a single arm. She is capable of a "Moving Stance" able to close distance with only a slight step and even "Hearing Moves", not needing eyesight to predict when the opponent will do next.
She is capable of combating Mages, Executors of the Church and Magus Killers alike.

    Pure Eyes of Time Dilation:
Pure Eyes, also called Eyes of Purity, are the ability to see that which normally cannot be seen. They are similar to Mystic Eyes, and, while both are inheritable, Pure Eyes differ from them. Mystic Eyes are traits of the body, something like inheriting the traits of a parent's body, while Pure Eyes are like inheriting fate and destiny, the offspring continuing the parent's will and quest. They are a more common occurrence than Mystic Eyes, and they can only be inherited by "humans" with high spiritual power. They can be said to reflect the parent's karma in the offspring, and they are an ability saints may often possess.
Continuously active, Guan-yin perceives time far slower than others. Combined with her natural speed, it feels as if the whole world is in slow motion to her whilst she is the only one going as "regular speed." While effective in combat scenarios and training her body to perfect technique, in mundane scenarios' time slows to a crawl which can make even simple conversation highly irritable due to how slowly everyone talks.

    Mystic Eye Killers:

A magical construct capable of suppressing the power of Mystic Eyes. Since Mystic Eyes are a power derived from the oculus, Mystic Eyes Killers are commonly made into glasses.
By wearing these glasses, Guan-yin perceives time at the same speed as a regular human. This makes her far less irritable and allows her to function with other members of society without flying into a fit out of annoyance.

    Traditional Thaumaturgy:
Like many Magi, Guan-yin has studied alchemy, spiritual evocation, summoning, divination, and spiritual healing. Although certainly more adapt in the basics than the average Magus, she cannot compare to the elite in these forms.

    Creator Remarks:
    Sealing Designation = OP, right?
This came about when I remembered what Rin is in the Apocrypha-verse. Also considering how Bajiquan is apparently Nasu's favourite martial art, I decided to make a bridge into it and make Martial Arts into Magecraft. Also, Muscle Wizards Cast Fist.

    Name: Roccoco Varsviotte
    Alias/Nickname/Title: The Recurrent
    Gender: Male
    Age: 55
    Height/Weight: 180m, 66kg
    Birthplace: France

    Appearance:
A man clearly in his fifties, Roccoco is bald, has a bit of a beer gut, fairly clear wrinkles from frowning, and a perpetually hunched back. In other words, he looks the same age as he is; a relative rarity for a magus. He has never been handsome, nor is he vain enough to want to be.
Always dressed very neatly and symmetrically, he clearly makes a point of his clothes being the exact same as he wore the day before. Has multiple copies of all his items of clothing for that purpose, down to having ten exact copies of a pair of socks.
Also, has a collection of nervous habits: toying with his antique watch, wringing his hands, et cetera.

    Personality
    Forte/Likes: Repetition, discipline, precision.
Weaknesses/Dislikes: Breaking from routine, social interaction, leaving the mansion.
Natural Talents: Telling time without a watch.
    Natural Enemy: ?

    Magical Attributes
    Elemental Alignment: Water
    Attribute: Repetition

    Magic Circuits
    Circuit Quantity: C
    Circuit Quality: C-
    Circuit Composition: Homogeneous.

    Character:
Asocial to near-ludicrous extremes. When he does leave his mansion, he is extremely skittish and quick to anger. Even inside his mansion, decades of complete solitude have turned him into a nervous, stuttering wreck in the presence of others at the best of times. Therefore, he prefers communicating by handwritten letters. In contrast to his unassuming demeanour, though, he is not incompetent nor stupid, and his quick temper can have nasty consequences for those who underestimate him.

    Biography:
Born the only child to the Varsviotte family, he naturally inherited the mage crest from his father. With it, he also inherited
    Roccoco
    his father's name
and identity, as was custom among his family. Furthermore, he copied his father's mannerisms as best as he was able, to the point of shaving his head and undergoing (back-alley) plastic surgery to look more alike once he was of age.

Raised in the exact same manner as his father, and his father before him, Roccoco only ever left the mansion when he could not avoid doing so and was a natural recluse, to the point of not ever visiting the Clock Tower in his lifetime. This brought him several challenges - one of them being that, though he offered other families the same sum of money (adjusted for inflation) as his predecessors had done and copied their actions, no one he considered worthy responded to his offers of marriage, considering his line decaying and weak - not without reason. As such, he was left without a successor of his own: a drastic break from the routine that was laid out for him.

This, coupled with crushing loneliness and the burgeoning realization his slavish adherence to the Grand Ritual that was recreating
    the Original
    Roccoco's life
would be wasted, drove him into a desperate frenzy. Finally, he arrived at a conclusion: he would enact the final ritual of his family, generations before it was ready to be put into practice. This required him to remove himself from time entirely, and then make the world repeat itself from its beginning until the beginning of the next loop, until the Root was revealed.

Because of his crippled social skills, enquiring after the necessary materials raised some significant flags, setting a process in motion which ended with a Sealing Designation as a Philosopher.

    Magecraft Related Abilities:

    Repetition:
The core of the Varsviotte magecraft. Simply put, this allows Roccoco to repeat spells for a minor extra cost - in effect, using a spell twice in extremely quick succession, without having to go through the process of readying the spell again. This does, however, require some additional effort into preparing the spell, and therefore some extra time, meaning that the time won by not repeating the process can easily be lost if the spell is complex enough.

Combined with spells that curse a target, this allows Roccoco to fire them off in what seems almost a continuous stream, like firing bullets from a shotgun. Another example is repeating arias for magecraft, to boost their effects.

However, usage of this magecraft has taken its toll: Roccoco suffers from what is commonly known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which was to a degree self-inflicted to better understand and integrate repetition into his life. For instance, he will never leave a room without closing its door thrice, and every hour he stands up and walks around the room, always in the same pattern and no matter what he is doing at the time. If he is prevented from doing so, he will undoubtedly suffer a panic attack.

    Curses:
More specifically, the old German branch of Braucherei, dealing in curses that attack the target's health. Differing from the ever-popular Gandr, Roccoco instead tends to use a varied repertoire of more specific curses - striking the target lame, cursing them with blindness, etc. This makes the spells lighter in terms of energy consumed, but also harder to aim, since they need to strike their exact target.

Roccoco has no particular attachment to this branch of magecraft, but merely uses it for self-defense, in combination with a small dagger he keeps on his person. His modus operandi is mostly to hit his targets with a volley of curses, and then while they're distracted, to slit their throat.

    Mystic Codes/Familiars:
    None worth mentioning.
    Non-Magecraft Abilities:
    None worth mentioning.

    Creator Remarks:
I mostly started this with the idea of "wouldn't it be cool if someone could fire spells like a shotgun", then while I was wondering how I stumbled across the idea of repetition as a central theme. It's been brewing as a character concept for a while already, even before the contest was announced. Only when I was writing out the biography did I realize the connection both to what Souren was doing and what Norikata would've done. It wasn't my intention to ape canon characters, though.

That's kind of how I've built OC mages so far, honestly. Finding something that sounds like a cool idea for an area of magecraft, then thinking about how that concept can be extended to influence their character, personality etc. Then realize there are still some flaws in the concept and rework it little by little. Sometimes I'm helped along by a faceclaim, but this time around I honestly wasn't able to find one to my liking.

Anyway, like I said, the theme here is repetition - from the obvious like him reliving his father's life, who was reliving his father's life, who was reliving the original Roccoco's life, to the (slightly) more subtle repeating digits, repeated words, et cetera. I even chose water as his Element because of the ocean's ebb and flow, which repeat every day. I realize there's a lot more to be done with the concept wrt magecraft than just going "pew pew pew", but I wanted him to be not horrid at direct combat and going for notGandrs was the easiest way to do that, IMO. But hey, at least it's not Runes again, amirite?

What is the deadline for this?

    - - - Updated - - -

At the end of 3 weeks submissions stop and voting begins.
So like the voting period begins June 23rd this time?
Imagine that the world is made out of love. Now imagine that it isn’t.

Imagine a story where everything goes wrong, where everyone has their back against the wall, where everyone is in pain and acting selfishly because if they don’t, they’ll die.
Imagine a story, not of good against evil, but of need against need against need, where everyone is at cross-purposes and everyone is to blame.

I'm doing it because I have awful time management skills outside of work and I didn't want a repeat of the last contest I entered.

    Name: Virgil Chaucer
    Alias: Akashic Record, Historian
    Gender: Male
    Age: 25
    Height/Weight: 195 cm/80 kg
    Birthplace: England
Appearance: A pale young man with well-trimmed light brown hair and an angular face. Well-featured, but he ruins his countenance with a constant frown. He wears a dress shirt, waistcoat, tie, slacks, and trenchcoat, or as he’d put it, “What people think Victorian English wore. It’s not very accurate, but give me this much at least.” His most striking feature is a set of brilliant green eyes.

    Personality
    Forte: Trivia games, Mystery novels
    Likes: Science fiction, Children, Travel
    Weaknesses: Protagonists
    Dislikes: Humanity, Predictable outcomes, Quitters
Natural Talents: Cynicism, Finishing people’s sentences
    Natural Enemy: Ritsuka Fujimaru

“To see it all firsthand and still draw the wrong conclusion; just how dense do you have to be?”

    Magical Attributes
    Origin: Observation
    Elemental Alignment: Water

    Magic Circuits
    Circuit Quantity: C
    Circuit Quality: C
    Circuit Composition: Metastasized

“I never was the best student - except in social studies, of course. Cheating? Of course not. I merely used the knowledge I had available.”

    Character:
Multiple words can be used to describe Virgil. For example, self-centered. As a Historian, Virgil’s primary directive is to live as long as possible and ensure his legacy survives in an heir, so he is loathe to risk his life for others. As another example, asshole. If a person still wants to talk to Virgil after five minutes, he considers the conversation a failure. A third word is deliberate. Decisions are not to be made lightly. Promises are to be fulfilled. After all, rivers don’t flow in reverse - and neither does time.

To Virgil, humans are an unbearable nuisance. They are petty, weak, pathetic, selfish, greedy, vain, and self-destructive fools constantly clawing at each other to take one step forward into an abyss of their own creation. He constantly sees the worst of humanity, and thus assumes the worst of humanity. As a result, he mocks and derides people at every step, digging into their flaws, insecurities, and mistakes with the fervor of a starved hyena at a fresh kill. To Virgil, an eternity of complete isolation would be bliss; and yet, he always returns to the largest of cities in the end.

Virgil is a Historian, a magus tasked with observing the actions and experiences of humanity. He spends each waking moment watching the countless memories and records of people, and hates every second of it. His eyes have seen countless catastrophes of mankind’s own making, watching as war and strife drown out hope and glory. He has watched people fail countless times and endlessly repeat their mistakes. Yet, he refuses to avert his eyes. For the purpose of humanity is to use the past to move forward toward the future, one step at a time.

“Me, an optimist? You’ve gone completely daft.”

    Biography:
Virgil’s family is a specialized group of magi known as Historians, who have observed humanity since its first kingdom with a unique set of Mystic Eyes passed down through millennia of generations. At times they were venerated as shamans and seers, at others, people attempted to steal their records to use for personal gain or merely to destroy them entirely. However, the Historians persisted throughout the ages. As Uruk and Nineveh fell, as Rome flourished and then burned, as Britain swarmed across the Earth, as war clashed continent against continent, as mankind reached to the stars and beyond, the Historians watched - never a part of history, but only observers.

Virgil is the latest of the Historians, and likely would have led a similar life as his predecessors, traveling across the world to view the forefront of human development, if not for one thing - he was too good an observer. Virgil’s compatibility with the eyes was too high. For all of the clout the Historians had amassed throughout the aeons, for all of the information they had stored over the millennia on the leaders of the three great factions, the Clock Tower could not ignore the birth of one who could observe to the very beginning of even Gaia itself. As a result, Virgil’s family was slaughtered and his home destroyed. His family hastily transferred the entirety of the Magic Crest to him and incinerated their records, and Virgil fled as the Enforcers eliminated all he once knew. Now he journeys across the Earth, flitting from city to city, warscape to warscape, discovery to discovery, always running from people even as he seeks them out, searching for a new sight.

“Observing the planet? Hmph. What use is there in that? Humanity’s a far more pleasant sight.”

    Magecraft Related Abilities:

Mystic Eyes of Antiquity: The family legacy that spans his millennia-long genealogy, and the purpose behind his existence. They are a set of brilliant green eyes passed down from Historian to Historian, and allow their bearer to perceive the historical records of whatever they lay eyes on. These records are not just memories, but the accumulated experiences of their body, mind, and soul. As a result, their bearer must process an unthinkable amount of information, and without the support of his Magic Crest Virgil would rapidly die as his brain overheated and dissolved. The bearer sees all information by default, and only years of experience allow Virgil to focus on the relevant experiences in everyday life and compartmentalize the wealth of information he experiences each day. In combat, Virgil uses them to identify the enemy’s fighting style and weaknesses, and then relentlessly target their flaws. The Mystic Eyes of Antiquity cannot be switched off or deactivated by their bearer, and passively enhance Virgil’s vision. Whether awake or asleep, Virgil continues to observe the experiences and records of humanity.

“To be quite frank, you can have them... Is what I wish I could say. As I’m regrettably still a human, you’ll have to rip them from my shattered skull.”

    Magic Crest: Athenaeum

The Magic Crest borne by Virgil, containing the countless memories recorded by his predecessors. It accumulates the countless histories Virgil sees on a daily basis and compiles them into a single record. The crest is based on his back, taking the form of a giant tree, and its branches and roots wind across his body. It has long since fused with his Magic Circuits entirely, preventing its removal until his death. As a result, Virgil is incapable of using most magecraft, as his circuits are specialized solely in recording and replaying history. Ordinarily the crest is split between the current Historian and their disciple; however, due to his circumstances Virgil bears it alone.

    Redo
    Repeat Phenomenon

The 25th Historian’s signature spell, available to Virgil through the records in his crest. The historical records of the area are released as a pseudo-reality marble, generating information copies of the actors and events in the tableau. Anyone within the designated area can be struck with prior blows and spells, or fall subject to developmental changes. The magical energy required for the spell rises exponentially with each second in the past replicated.

“Whether you’ve studied your history or not, you’re destined to repeat it nonetheless.”

    Rewind
    Last Encore

The 83rd Historian’s signature spell, available to Virgil through the records in his crest. A single target is forcibly reverted to a prior state documented in their records. Once the spell is released, it rapidly returns to their proper state. The spell is not inherently limited to a single target; however, the cost of maintaining it for multiple targets would be life-threateningly prohibitive.

“It might be living in the past, but it’s still living at least. Thank me now, before you forget.”

    Rewrite
    Phantom Recollection

The 71st Historian’s signature spell, available to Virgil through the records in his crest. Virgil generates false information and forces it into a target, overwriting certain memories and experiences. The afflicted can lose the knowledge of how to perform certain spells and techniques, shift personalities, beliefs, and values, or even gain new expertise. Virgil dislikes using this spell, and reverts the target’s internal record to its proper state at the first opportunity.

“Whether it occurred or not, the memory remains as strong as any other. In that case, who’s to say it was truly false?”

    Reject
    Catastrophe Denial

Virgil’s original spell, developed during his tenure as a Historian. He shuts off his body’s observation of an event, distorting his own historical record and denying its consequences on him. All events are observed in some way, whether actively or passively through the senses or through realization. Even if the mind fails to observe an event, the body and the soul maintain a record. Therefore, there is only one circumstance in which a human can completely reject observation of an event - death. Using this spell leaves Virgil in a contradictory state of pseudo-death, completely helpless to outside factors until he reactivates his observation. As an example, he could survive a hail of gunfire, but being stabbed with a knife during the hail would kill him. Such is the risk of denying life.

“Denying history isn’t something a human does. For all our pretensions, even magi know that.”

    Mystic Codes/Familiars:

Mystic-Eye Killer Case: A simple dark green glasses case made of plastic, leather, and cloth. Well-worn, especially around the edges where the fabric has grown thin and faded. The inside is crafted from meticulously molded velvet, and contains nothing more. No matter what history holds, humanity cannot avert their gaze.

"This old thing? It's merely a keepsake of a promise, nothing more."

    Non-Magecraft Abilities:

Before being forced on the run by his Sealing, Virgil made a living writing historical “fiction”. As a result, he is accustomed to a fairly pleasant lifestyle, and when the rigors of life overwhelm him he sends the latest volume of his famous series to his editor, splurges with the royalties in a big city, and then leaves the Michelin restaurant, casino, or concert hall unlucky enough to receive him in a flaming ruin from the destruction that results when the Enforcers close in.

“Look, if you don’t want to have your establishment suffer spontaneous magical combustion, then stop accepting gas leaks of all things as a viable excuse! As long as you let those boors get away with it, they’ll never stop!”

Due to the countless experiences within him, Virgil is experienced with the majority of martial arts. However, he cannot match up to a master as he is merely using the disciplines without aiming for the ultimate. As an aside, his preferred fighting style is capoeira.

“What’s that look for? One can hardly call himself a gentleman if he can’t even dance.”

Creator Remarks: I had an idle idea of Virgil as a filthily OP Master for a Grail War RP who could identify Servant identities at a glance and generally make everyone miserable. As for a wish, it would be ostensibly to eliminate his Mystic Eyes, given the intense misanthropy they generate in Virgil. However, his true desire isn’t to stop observing the past, but merely to see the future that humanity reaches for that outshines the past and makes humanity’s mistakes and suffering worth happening.

Virgil: That right there is an absolutely phenomenal sheet. Not only is there a consistent theme of "History" clearly interwoven through the whole thing, but every part on its own is awesomely fleshed out. His Magecraft is really creative and I love the imagery of his Magic Crest taking the form of a branching tree grown into his back.

Good personality too. I like how he gives the impression of a hardened cynic but is still at heart an optimist even if he won't admit it, wanting to believe that humanity and its struggles have value even despite the suffering and tragedy. I wonder how he'd get along with Andersen actually, since they have a fair amount of traits in common (observing humanity, sharp-tongued, pessimistic).

The only critique I can make is that you accidentally referred to him as "Victor" in his last spell description. Otherwise this is some A+ quality material. Definitely going to give this one my vote when the deadline comes knocking...
