Biography: Originally a third-rate magus from a backwater village in Belgium, upon discovering his magical talents, he saw them as a chance for him to make an impact on the word. Seeking to hone his meagre talent, he travelled to London to join the Association; however, his subpar skill lead to his rejection. Burning with humiliation, and witnessing the far superior skills of the Grand magi awoke something within him, and subconsciously triggered his Origin of envy. In a fit of rage, he attacked the proctor of his entrance exam, and was on the verge of killing her when a thought struck him. Doing something that should not feasibly be possible, and should’ve almost certainly killed him he gouged out her crest and Magic Circuits and grafted them onto herself, leaving her mutilated corpse behind him. But this was only the beginning. His Origin driving him forward, he began a career as a serial killer, stealing the abilities of people – not just mages – that catch his eye, and assimilating all the things about them that please him: abilities, memories, appearance etc. The fact that he is an indiscriminate serial killer, the fact that he steals Crests and the fact that he possesses a Reality Marble all combine to gift him a Sealing Designation.

Character: Originally a cheerful and optimistic young man, who greatly admired the achievements and powers of the Association’s bright and best, upon awakening to his origin, his admiration soured to envy and his ambitions to become a great mage on his own became the wish to take away everything from those he admired. Very little of this original personality remains, only his twisted ambitions that drive him. Something of a moot point anyway since he always adopts the personality of someone he’s killed.

Magecraft: Briar possesses a vast magical skillset due to his theft, however his ability spread is as shallow as it is wide, because he simply reads from the memories of his victims rather than endeavouring to learn how to use the skills himself. He possesses an immense number of (stolen) Circuits, but however refined they were originally, they are now barely functional. Consider a number of perfectly engineered racing engines that have all been hacked to pieces, then parts of each taken to construct a new engine by an amateur. Therefore, despite his massive numbers of magic circuits, they are all, save the ones he originally owned, of the lowest possible quality. The desecration of such perfect works alone would make him a pariah in the world of mages. He possesses two different Mystic Eyes, stolen like most of his magecraft. His left eye carries a Charm effect and his right eye is Enchantment.

Soul Chimera: The name given to Briar by the Association due to his habit of changing his identity every so often, so given to him because of his operating style. He seeks to become his ideal self by stealing aspects of others that he yearns for. He does this in the most brutal style imaginable: carving off parts of their souls and grafting them to his own, allowing him to assimilate things such as their memory, parts of their personality, or, if they are mages, their Circuits. He may also, if the whim takes him, replace a part of his body with one of theirs; his true appearance is presumably a monstrous creature that barely looks human, however he uses his stolen souls to overwrite his body with his victim’s appearance. His theft is not limited to humans; beasts, vampires, elementals, nothing is above his ravenous jealousy.

Endless Masquerade: The sole reason that Briar is able to work the way he does without killing or crippling himself: a Reality Marble that allows for the ability to take everything away from a person as if one took a mask off their face and placed it on one’s own. That he possesses the ability to create one at a surprisingly young age would suggest that its creation was an inborn talent of his that he possessed unbeknownst to everyone, including himself. Its main use being limited to its passive effects that prevent his body and soul from simply dying in their mutilated states. He can use it to switch between stolen forms, changing between them like costumes, each form carrying the abilities of the original. The world within takes the form of a ruined city, wherein countless revellers wearing masks in the fashion of Briar’s victims dance. The revellers are all Briar, and it is only within his world where he can become everything he desired at once. Only within can Briar truly steal everything his victim has, even their identity: the corpses of those who die in the world are impossible to identify.
