yeah but here's the thing. realistically, not all the cases the girls worked on are going to be a story worth telling. not every mission is going to have some kind of unexpected trouble or ongoing character development for any of them. a fair amount of them are going to be very boring successes like staying in the exact same spot for a few hours and going back since nothing's happening.

Also there are a lot of series that overstay their welcome or go off the rails if they're more than a cour
I likes me some tighter writing

Not too tight now.

also more than 13 and you often start having animation issues
I mean even just 13 is sometimes bad

That's a real shame. This is the new normal now? Like I'd understand if there wasn't enough source material to adapt but Princess Principal is a original series and the way it is right now I can't hope for a second season. I'm going just watch stuff on my backlog for a while. There's only one show I want to watch next season so it's the perfect time for me to do that.

I wouldn't be surprised if anime seasons get even shorter in the future.
Mondaiji (Problem Children) was only 10 episodes
Then, BRS TV only had 8 episodes. The only longrunners are kid's stuff like Precure and Yu-Gi-Oh!

Seasons are made as long as they are for airing on television and they get a block of time for x number of weeks. But then there are some like noitamina that do shorter blocks on purpose or channels plan for specials during holidays or whatever.
But then you're also getting more and more things that are not on standard television because streaming is slowly suffocating the old school and people are getting experimental. And like Pai said, a lot of stuff that doesn't have a marketable future on tv gets webisodes.
but really the future is companies see how these compilation movies do and are eventually gonna decide to cut out the middleman and just do theater runs
