I do like Five Guys but their burgers are extremely... heavy? Compared to most other places.

This is true, it's not even that they're big. When I go there sometimes I can barely finish off the fries+burger combo and I feel like a fast food failure.

GyG is great, not gonna lie. Legs & Breasts does the best chips and gravy ever, period. Uhhh... Nandos is solid and a cut above most other ff joints in terms of quality, but also in cost.

Basically every chain mentioned in this thread beyond KFC and McDonalds we don't have in Australia, sooooo...

Also, Pie Face and Lord of the Fries do very good work I feel. There are probably other mainland chains we don't have in Tassie that haven't sprung immediately to mind.

In N Out fries suck but they are amazing animal style that was like half of my subsistence in cali.

I basically quit fast food for a couple of years. Now it's not really that frequent either but there is something about certain items that it's not worth cooking at home.

I don't think chick-fil-a is consistent at all, at least my university one could be top tier one day and slightly above bad the next. Waffle fries are gr8 tho. And even the restaurant isn't super above that.

Also in NY, we have a weird trend of restaurants all called Kennedy Fried Chicken but almost none are related to each other, but they all have similar menus. Some of those are p damn good.

I like Five Guys but I think Hardee's might be better more often.

Was the Chick-fil-A in your university, like, in the university? Like how some buildings will have restaurants and cafes in them, as opposed to being like outside and just on or near campus? Because we had a Chick-fil-A here too in university grounds that was kinda crappy and inconsistent, but it was also kind of incomplete (as in, didn't have the full stock/menu/etc) and I didn't really count it. All the ones I've been to outside of that (like, how you see a McD's on its own on the side of the road, rather than being embedded into some larger thing) have been pretty good.

The only ones we have around where I live are McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Arby's, Subway, and a few others. I've been eating at McDonalds ever since I was little so I'll go with that. Burger King is a close second.

There used to be this place in London, near Trocadero. Called it Adam's Ribs.

Idc if it was really a chain or even fast food, but those were some of the best ribs in existence, if my childhood memories can be trusted.

Church's Chicken is a great fried chicken joint, as is Popeye's. Jersey Mike's has good cold and hot sub sandwiches. Chick-fil-A nuggets are small, but tasty, and their fries are great.

So I have to come back and give props to Japanese McDonalds since even though they’re still McDonald’s they’re like the Platonic ideal of McDonald’s where no matter what you order it comes out looking exactly like the picture on the menu every single time and it’s pretty phenomenal

I had Japanese McDonalds and they served me a Melon Spider which was cool. They should have that at all McDonalds.

Also Japanese KFC is really interesting, teriyaki chicken wraps are great. Chips are fucking weird though
