Should I keep watching Juuni Taisen?

I was pretty close to dropping it after episode six, and what I've heard about future episodes (a drop in animation quality and boring characters eating up huge amounts of screen-time) hasn't exactly encouraged me to go on.

Iunno. I’m not one for dropping stuff but the next few episodes are 6 aren’t great. Long flashbacks which are ultimately pretty pointless and go nowhere. This one was good but I would say that the underlying problems (predictability and being somewhat anti-climactic) are still there.

Tbh I don’t really notice bad animation stuff in general but people do seem to think there’s a drop so I guess that’s a thing to consider as well.

Apo may be shit. But most of the show isn't pointless flashbacks and characters jobbing in one single hit with a very predictable pattern in the death order. JT also manages to look even worse than Apo a lot of the time in recent episodes. Still, this discussion is in my opinion trying to say which turd smells worse. Can we agree both Apo and JT suck and you miss nothing of value by dropping JT?

I didn't watch the latest story from Kino '17 in Kino '03, so... wow.

Aoi Yuki Kino seems less stoic than the original Kino. Still stoic but she'll have some over-the-top reactions here and there.

ClassicaLoid S2 Episode 10 - "The Fanservice Episode"

It's finally time for the spotlight to fall on the least developed character in the show - Liszt. So she hears about a popular piano teacher in town with a similar sounding name (Risuto) and she checks it out. The fact that the dudes a slimy douche who uses his appearance to get further in life infuriates Liszt as it reminds her of how she used to be prior to reincarnation. But she loses a piano match with him due to not practicing like the others. So thus starts a training montage straight outta something like Rocky. Thus the rematch occurs and although Liszt didn't manage to finish her piece (she smashed her piano like a punk rocker with a guitar), she stilled managed to win over the crowd and shame her opponent.

The remix this week was obviously "La Campanella" - Liszt's remixes are usually hit or miss with me but this one knocked it outta the park and is one of my favourites from this season.

Next week focuses on idol pair Tchaiko and Bada. It'll be good to see what they've been up to since Season 1.

She generally is, yes. Buy she has her moments, like at the end of the last episode where she had a freak out when she discovered she had taken a memory wipe drug.

Indeed. I had faith on Orange because of their work on Majestic Prince, Knights and Magic and other shows they collaborated on doing 3DCG animation for the robots. But this show is honestly their best looking thing to date. Just amazing

I can relate to Itsuki for this episode to an extent on the family matter-ish.

If they ever showed his mom and she had the visage of a little sister, then the revelation would give his imouto fetish an Oedipus flavor to it. And it would explain where said fetish came from.

I wished that this episode of Juni Taisen explained Ox's Past more other than the interaction of Tiger. I mean, he was hyped as the "Genius of Slaughter" but almost got killed by being choked, almost killed if Tiger didn't get in the way or being restraint by Monkey's Corpse. Well. I guess it did explain that he got careless and didn't know. And this Duedeculpe guy looks supernatural and cannot be opposed or you cannot escape him. And how did Rat get killed by birds? Heck how did the birds found him? Isn't Chicken already dead?

So it seems King's Game changed how Nobuaki's first game ended from the manga. In the manga SPOILERhe and Chiemi manage to beat the King's hypnotic suggestion by believing really hard they were going to survive, but Chiemi dies anyway due to the leg wound she'd suffered earlier. Here SPOILERChiemi outright sacrifices herself so Nobu can survive and the two never figure out any way of thwarting the game. I hope the change was because they're saving up the big reveal for the second game when Nobuaki can defeat the King once and for all, and it does fix the plot-hole of why Nobuaki wouldn't tell any of his classmates if he knew a way of cheating the game.

While the show has somewhat improved since the whole "race" plot began, there were still plenty of things that made no sense this week. First, SPOILERChiemi killing herself somehow counts as Nobuaki obeying his order (apparently the show thinks someone killing themselves while you try to stop them is the same as literally killing them?). Second, Nobuaki's characterization is completely inconsistent. If he wants to sacrifice himself for his classmates so much, then why did he choose to SPOILERdrag them into a new king's game rather then just accepting his punishment? Granted, the class probably would've been screwed anyway since Natsuko already chose to continue the game, but he had no way of knowing that...

Honestly, I'm not sure why I'm even watching the show at this point. As cheesy and bad as the plot and characters are, the premise is morbidly compelling... It's basically the anime version of B-movie shlock.
