Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Launches for PC This Winter.

I'm surprised there's no thread for this or the TV series, but someone who still watches it can start it I guess. Since the smartphone game is coming to Steam, it seemed like a good time to rekindle the spirit of another of my childhood memories. And also fuel the bygone rage of opening up packs in search of rare cards.

For now to start off, is there anyone already playing this here or considering the possibility now?

It a surprisingly fun game with a different meta than the actual YuGiOh due to simplified gameplay. For example, Red Eyes deck is a viable deck cuz the deck is smaller, allowing for more reliable way to search for Red Eyes B. Chick. There is also water deck and Leviathan bs effect (this one is a very high tier deck in actual YuGiOh during the vanilla era). The cinematic summoning is cool too. The pack also is not very random, with enough quartz you will guaranteed to get all the rare cards, similar with how raffle work in FGO.

But I forced to delete the game few months ago for space, but its still a fun YuGiOh online game.

Are you talking in the game or real life? I remember among deck packs that Red Eyes deck was popular among them in my neighborhood.

I've wanted to get back into Yugioh for some time, a steam game sounds great.

But I'm not a fan of link monsters (I appreciate the efforts to reduce special summon spam, but it sounds like Link monsters will just be the new spam) or the simplified rules. Has anyone played Legacy of the Duelist on Steam? That sounds like it would be better.

I've watched AH Michael play it, it was a good way of refreshing my memory of the card gameplay. I don't know how anything works beyond Synchro Summoning since I stopped watching after 5D's. I forgot whatever I watched of Zexal since I didn't really like it.

Beyond Synchros, it's Xyz, which lets you pair off 2 or more monsters of the same level and using those monsters as materials to activate effects, Pendulums, which lets you summon more monsters by placing card "scales" (which means placing minimum and maximum level for summoning), and links (which relegated pendulum cards to spell and trap zones), using link cards to control zones for summoning monsters from extra deck.

Trying links with Weather Painter as of now. So far, it's almost easy to pull it off if you know what you are doing.

Or in this game of links, all you can depend on are monsters from the main deck, which lets Blue Eyes decks and Dark Magician decks shine.

Oh yeah, don't worry dude, I've already been caught up on all the special summoning stuff after Synchros. With Link Summoning now, its given Yugioh a more tactical approach to the game. It looks like it was an attempt to restrict the overabundance of Special Summoning from the Extra Deck.

I really miss the mix and match days. Now, it's more of a "find cards that are tailored to specific cards" kind of game.

And that shoots up the prices of most of the cards commonly used nowadays.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice the game got on Steam a few days ago until this morning.

Found a starter guide to help out.

After finally getting through the download screen, I played the game a bit. I cleared the first level of Duel School to relearn the basics, and I spent 2 hours or so of browsing the store of packs. I'm a bit sad there's no known/replicated Structure Decks that I know of in the game. I did notice some cards from them in the new structure decks though like Infernal Flame Emperor from Destruction of Blaze deck.

Sigh, I really wanted to get Dragon's Roar deck since I really liked that one. Maybe if I wait long enough perhaps?

I didn't think they were gonna get in the game honestly. And I have yet to see the summoning animation.
