Maybe this is me just hoping that someone accidential sides the door open to the CoS without needing to speak the code by way of telekineses. Even if it does not work, I am sure Muggle-born Mrytle will love them playing Jedi when it came out after she died...so that will be entertaining.

"You want me to explain it, Madam? Ok. Well you see according to Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation, which states that a particle attracts every other particle in the universe using a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. And since the ground we are standing on is so very massive in relationship to these books as well as being in close proximity of said ground being that they were in the hands of Ms. Granger at the time, the force was strong enough to pull the books towards the ground as you see before you. Such is the wonders of the magic of science."

I am not sure that the mind arts is a skill that we want to really broadcast at this point to others that are not close friends. Its not illegal by any means but I would rather not trigger Dumbledore getting called into investigate further and have him jump to bad conclusions all over again with Shinji.

Blaming Hermione is not a good answer as its not going to make things better with Hermione. Taking the blame is not going to score any points with her as well and is going to make the Library a worst place to hang out with Ms Pince breathing down his neck looking for further issues with him.

[X] Tell her the truth of what went on, but Shinji can not fathom what cause Granger to do this. But that he will serve any punish with her as he must be somewhat to blame.

Alright then, I will go with then, [x] Say that he didn't quite see as he was working on Occlumency exercises

Rejected, as Shinji isn't looking to serve out someone else's punishment. If he thinks it his fault for scaring her, he'll just say it was his fault, hence he is cleaning up, without really elaborating on it. Otherwise, it would just be Hermione's fault.

He could of course show Pince his Occlumency book. As its his personal book, it wouldn't be like he got it from the Restricted section.

[x] The grounds by the lake.

If you are using telekinesis, it's better to test it out outside first. Then you can have fun exploring whichever place you see fit.

[x] Say that he felt dizzy and fell to the ground. He must have brought down the books with him when he lost balance.

Taking the blame because it was (partly) his fault, as well as trying to reduce the punishment.

At least, Pince found him trying to fix the mess rather than leaving it behind.

It's an opportunity to show Hermione your better side. Don't waste it.

Especially if your alternative is to reveal a member of the staff that you are studying a discipline that you're (probably) underage for. What if Pince confiscates the Occlumency tome?

Its his book. She doesn't have jurisdiction over student property, though she could call it to the headmasters attention if need be. Occlumency itself is not exactly restricted. Legilimency would be, however.

Then you have to answer why a first year would see the need to shield their thoughts? What is so important that they would to hide?

Come on, guys. It's not too late to adjust your votes.

Wouldn't you rather have to deal with the nurse?

Sure, let's give him our best kid Riddle impression. That should sit well with the paranoid headmaster.

Don't really feel like explaining why we're reading an Occlumency text to the librarian, who may report to Dumbledore and possibly get some unwanted attention on us.

Side note, why was Hermione spooked? Was it because we looked sinister? It seems like a great jump from "being suspicious that we and our friends got better grades than her". Or did she actually see Zouken for a second?

Has to do with the fact that her real first introduction to Shinji was when he went Berserk against Quirrell after being scared out of her mind, tied up, clawing at a door for the boy who said he was there to rescue her and mostly naked. Only for said boy going competently mad and striking a teacher in a attempt to kill said teacher to her horror. Shinji has become the very figure that her Boggart will turn into after that event. And then he approached her first 'friend' Sokaris and must have used her to get a O in potions.

Hermione - Always drama with that one.

And imagine what she would have done had we gone chasing after her.

Edit: I think I am just going to go with Daiki answers on this round as with further thought the bathroom is not a place that leans itself with having fun, plus even if they did find the CoS, how would they survive it?

Change my votes again (sorry) to [x] The grounds by the lake and [x] Say that he felt dizzy and fell to the ground. He must have brought down the books with him when he lost balance.

Not sure how we would go about explaining ourselves showing up for the second time to Pomfrey in the first week or the lack of any measurable symptoms but hey roll with it.

Let's just say that temporary insanity + accidental magic does not make for a good impression. Especially if that accidental magic takes the form of a cloak of otherworldly darkness, complete with blades for fingers.

Plus, yes, all the aftermath of the scenario.

Interesting to see that you're all choosing to hide what happened from Pince though.

So far, we have a tie between Grounds by the Lake and Haunted Bathroom - this needs to be resolved, as they can only start in one place.

Where do they begin their exploration? [x] The Haunted Bathroom on the First Floor
What does Shinji do? [x] Say that he didn't quite see as he was working on Occlumency exercises

    Exploration 2

The Haunted Bathroom seems like a good a place as any to begin, given that there are stories about the student that died there - and well, Shinji has never seen a young ghost before. The Fat Friar and the other older ones, yes, but Moaning Myrtle is supposedly a girl his age.

"Hey. What are you two doing in this bathroom? You're boys!" the translucent form of Myrtle says shrilly to Ernie and Shinji. "Or did you two and the girl come to do unspeakable, naughty things?"

    How does Shinji respond?

[ ] Force Choke the ghost
    [ ] "I-its not like that!"
[ ] Try to ignore her
    [ ] Laugh it off
[ ] Let one of the others handle it

    Counseling

And where would Shinji like to have counseling with Miyuki?

[ ] The Hufflepuff Common Room
[ ] The Greenhouse where Miyuki works on her personal projects
[ ] A walk around the Black Lake
    [ ] The Kitchens
    [ ] (write-in)

You would let Natsumi handle answering that?
