For semantic purposes alone, I don't consider time travel stories and isekai to be the same thing, even though elements are shared between the genres.

Konosuba is so far my favorite one, and No Game No Life is also fun to read/watch. There's been some like Mushoku Tensei or the Shield Hero too, but unfortunately all of them eventually became very dull the longer they lasted.

Unfortunately, nowadays the Isekai setting is chock full of bland stories that pretty much go the same way. This is the usual recipes you'll encounter:

- Guy gets transported to another world as hero because of course students from another world are the best candidates (I blame puberty), gets ridiculously overpowered inmediately/after a while to the point nobody, not even God/Death/the Universe can beat him in battle, turning the poor fellow into a monster that can easily end the world by saying how good the weather is today, or making them never feel any satisfaction in their lives as they can easily get everything without any hardship, usually just by blinking or even breathing.
- Guy is teleported into a world with knowledge that no normal person usually has unless it's a hobby for them or was related to their job, which means they usually tend to have 100 hobbies or jobs to justify that amount of knowledge, and uses it to improve the world that it reincarnates by becoming the best merchant/pharmacist/*insert whatever profesion the writer likes the most here* in the world and starting the process of human decadence in this world due to the new technology introduced.
- Guy is reincarnated into a ruler/demon king/fat noble, and either has knowledge of the world as it's based on a game that will never get a high score on Metacritic OR he basically mind rapes the host he reincarnates into and takes over his personality making its evil and only interesting side disappear. Then he proceeds to become the best lord of a territory (rarely king because that's too much responsibility), and its tales usually end here because who cares about knowing how their lives continue when they already reached the top.

Add in a harem (and very rarely just one girl) in all of them with girls that fall in love with MC as easily as it takes for lava to melt your hand, which will cause them to become as bland as the MC, spreading the disease to future generations too. And there you have it folks, you have the perfect mix of blandness that has been abused over and over.

It may not look like this by what I wrote above, but I like Isekai stories. But nowadays it's hard to even find something with any quality, as everything just feel copy&paste. it's a real pity honestly.

I wanted to avoid putting R18 stuff for the sake of the children, so they don't believe that sex is equivalent to leveling up with an announcement suddenly popping out after the act saying that you got spare skill points that needs to be put somewhere. I don't want to creep them out honestly, I personally would feel creeped if an old man told me I'm doing a great job there.

The ending is thoroughly mediocre, just like the rest of the story. I found the filler and extra nonsense at the ending of the anime to make the experience even more terrible though so I'd stick to the manga.

In the past I was happy when a new story was translated, as they were sometimes interesting and fun to read. Nowadays, the swarm of released translations, and a lot of them being "good quality editted machine translated" stories with usually a "Please donate for more content while I also put or not obstructive ads, and btw I'm Adblock blocking you so you get to enjoy those ads" added to the mix made me feel very discouraged in checking any of them, just to see the same stuff over and over.

I've never been to a Vietnamese porn forum so not sure if they exist in there, but I've seen comments that made me believe children are reading those stories. That, or they are kids on the inside if they believe that if you save somebody = getting the princess's love. Feeling gratitude towards somebody is a thing too, LOVE is not the end result of every action you do.

Oh wow, suddenly remembering a lot of older 90s anime I've seen actually fall under Isekai I guess?

Vision of Escaflowne - a classic, transforming mecha dragon for the win!

El Hazard - another classic Isekai when generic harem lead surrounded by potential haremettes wasn't too overdone yet...I think.

Magic Knight Rayearth - actually my 1st CLAMP thingy I think. Also has magic & robots.

Now & Then, Here & There - Fun little adventure where young hot blooded MC gets transported into the wrong genre. Watch it w/ the whole family, especially w/ the kids!

Isekai, the fantasy setting where (usually) modern people are transported to a fantasy world, a game world, or some strange setting (as well as the reverse).

I think this allows me to mention reverse Isekai (as in, someone summoned from another world to this one).

Because I think it'd be interesting to have the summoned MC be a destined villain rather then hero. As in, the world s/he is summoned into would have a prophesy about a legendary evil being summoned from another world, and the MC's arrival would just happen to fit with said prophecy.

I found Hataraku Maou-sama absolutely hilarious when it came out. Since I'm a casual I haven't read the novel, but I've heard it's good. I'm not sure if something like this is what you mean.
